Aswell I dont think Donington should be revamped as the original layout was superb. Adding the required upgraded pit's and safety issue's would be more appropriate. Every year the FIA changes the rules to make the racing safer and the speed's lower yet each year the old track record's fall to the newly configured car's, what's up with that???

Getting rid of Mosley was the first step and the second step should be to get rid of Tilke!

Uh no! Getting rid of Bernie would be more of a priority for me.

I agree yet getting rid of Mr.Boring Track Designer would also be a plus in my book. Maybe I'm just too old school and have issue's with new trick's?? :)

Donington hires new developers

By Edd Straw Wednesday, August 5th 2009, 12:36 GMT

Donington Park has confirmed that it has appointed Jayne McGivern's Red Grouse Properties to head up the upgrade of the circuit ahead of the 2010 British Grand Prix.

McGivern is a former chief executive of the UK arm of Multiplex, the company that built Wembley stadium, and circuit bosses are confident that she will ensure that the track redevelopment required to host Formula 1 will be completed on time.

"We have recently appointed Jayne McGivern's company Red Grouse Properties to lead the construction project for the 2010 Formula 1 Grand Prix," said a Donington Park statement.

"Jayne is a highly respected businesswoman who is credited with turning around the Wembley project and was heavily involved in the purchasing of the Millenium Dome from the government to convert it into the 02 Arena.

"Her appointment is a further signal of Donington Park's strong commitment to delivering a high quality, fan-friendly Formula 1 event for the next 17 years, for which we hold the contract.

"Jayne will ensure that all of the new work on site is completed in a timely manner and to the highest standards."

And before we get rid of Tilke, we find out a way how to bring the late, great John Hugenholz back from the grave.

For AKR one section of the circuit should be a Tifosi area.

Had to google him, but he designed Suzuka it seems....

I read a few letters to Autosport this week, apparantly fans are really annoyed with the MSA and Donington.

Alot of races were cancelled last weekend during the superleague-formula race because of the rain. Why might you ask? Because the area around the new tunnel was deemed unsafe due to the shoddy workmanship on that area so far.

Hugenholz designed some lovely tracks. The old Zandvoort is one of my all time favourites. It's such a hoot on GPL

Hill 'anxious' over Donington plans

By Mark Glendenning and Pablo Elizalde Friday, August 7th 2009, 11:22 GMT

British Racing Drivers' Club president Damon Hill says he's anxiously watching the progress of Donington, as he still thinks there are doubts the circuit will be ready to host next year's British Grand Prix.

Donington will replace Silverstone as the venue for the British race from next year, but the circuit's redevelopment plan has been surrounded by speculation that it may not be ready in time for the event.

Donington, however, has received all the necessary planning permissions and work was scheduled to start this month.

Speaking to AUTOSPORT on Thursday, Hill said the skepticism over Donington's plans has been justified, and he insists he is still unsure about whether the works will be completed on time.

"Well, I think there has been a lot of skepticism, and perhaps justified skepticism, of Donington's claim to be ready for 2010, and everyone's anxiously watching that space because it may be that there won't be a venue available to host the British Grand Prix in 2010," Hill told AUTOSPORT.

Hill also admitted he was not surprised by the shows of support from F1 members following this year's British Grand Prix at Silverstone

"No, I think everyone at Silverstone did a superb job," Hill added. "Richard Phillips should take an enormous amount of credit for managing that, but also of course we had in the last two years two British drivers in contention for the championship which helps put bums on seats.

"So We've enjoyed the fruits of their work as well. But the thought that the British Grand Prix could be in jeopardy because of ... let's call it a high-risk strategy is actually worrying, because Britain has shown over the years that it is one of the greatest supporters of grand prix racing and of motorsport in the world.

"So it doesn't seem to be right that there should be any doubt over that."
