I'm not a PC person, I like Macs

No, no it's not. Yes, Britain is extremly PC. No, we do not ask anyone to refer to Christmas as "Winterval", that is an urban legend. "Winterval" was a name for something else from decades ago which was extremely localised.Clarkey wrote : I think PC rules have gone to far in destroying core rights of Britian, take Christmas and Christianity for example. I know this is shifting away from the topic but is that for real? That would really offend me being Catholic. (I only follow FERRARIISM in the world of F1 of course *LOL*). What annoys me is that Christian countries like Britain (and there are others as well) that will do this compromise for non Christians but if you go to a Muslim country for example, none of these compromise exist or will ever exist. As far as I am concerned if you migrate to another country, although it is fine to still follow your own religion, one must adapt to the ways of the new country, ie accept Christmas as what it is and that is it.

But we have been told to put less emphasis on such festivals...

Yes it is. My old man was on the county council and still keeps in touch with all his old contacts from those days and they obviously have contact with other county councils (I could go on) and they confirm that is some areas they have done this and asked/told people to call it Winterval

Maybe, but it still happens, far from the urban myth you stated it to be. In all fairness however no-one really listens to these requests, if anyone asked this of me they would have my anger to deal with and considering I am a pretty tall and built like a rugby prop forward (having played in said position) they would have to reconsider that requestWhatever. It's certainly not something one can say is true of the UK in general. There's crazy stuff like that in isolated pockets worldwide.
