Will Buxton ‏@willbuxton 37s
Funny chat with @LewisHamilton. Asked him how much he'd held back given how good his fuel rate was. "WHAT? You guys can see that? Oh man"

I thought it was Kimis fault, at best a racing incident as Kimi maybe didn't see him or wasn't aware he was around, but to penalise Mag was harsh.

Funny we didn't hear Kimis usual rant about rookie drivers and how they could be punched to help them be more aware

Okay apparently the new rules are any unsafe pit release gets a ten second stop go and automatic 10 place grid penalty for the next race.

Seems rather harsh on the driver considering it is out of his hands.

I think after the tire deal with Webber's release last year and the tire hitting a cameraman, they did this, fair or not it's the rule for everyone that does it. Hate to be that RBR wheel guy today.

On the engine front (considering this is an engine formula)

1 Mercedes 68
2 Mercedes 43
3 Alonso 30
4 Mercedes 20
5 Mercedes 19
6 Renault 15
7 Renault 7
8 Ferrari 0
9 Renault 0
10 Renault 0
11 Ferrari

Alonso's car is Alonso powered?

Yeah, they have ICE, MGH K, MGH H and ALON SO. The Alonso unit has been the only system at 100% so far this season

The race itself was okay, 7 out of 10 as far as I'm concerned. The exciting parts were certainly the beginning with Ricciardo and Vettel going at it. Good for him not being a Webber, and the Bottas, Massa thing was interesting but it was relatively boring with the Mercs cruising and collecting.

Anyone thinking that Red Bull is close doesn't really understand that Mercedes didn't even need to turn it up. Red Bull is near capacity to get the results.

One interesting bit was the fuel graphics. Williams and Mercedes were considerably lower in fuel usage than the rest of the field. Malaysia is not a hard track on fuel, but keep that in mind for the upcoming races that are.

That's the Mercedes engine advantage, has the most power and uses less fuel even though Rosberg's was higher than I thought it would be.

Though the Williams were alot lower than the Merc though bearing in mind they spent most of the race following cars meaning they can use fuel in the tow.

Great race from Mercedes, they deserve the win for having put in such a great preparation.

Excellent drive from Lewis. He was totally on song the whole event but especially for the race. It was a really nice thing that Lewis, at the height of his celebration, thought to remember the families of those on MH370.

Bottas put in another great drive, its a pity Williams couldn't get s better result from qualifying.

Felt really bad for Kimi, but pleased that KMag put his hand up. Hopefully he learns.

Can't believe Dan's bad luck, nothing more to say. Can't understand how he can be penalized for the same thing twice.

Really good drive from Jenson, good points again and his driving to keep position from a clearly faster Massa in the Williams was excellent work. It was a rare bit of actual racing, pity it was over so fast.

Great drive from Nando, not much more to say about that.

The dry race let us get a good handle on the real pecking order. I'd say Merc, Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, FI.

Really disappointing crowd, considering this as good as a home race for the red hot favorite team.

The race started at 4:00 a.m., my time; but, I got up anyway. I can't stand recording a race and watching it later,
as I can't resist the temptation to find out the results and that always spoils it for me.

In the end, I was upset to see Kimi's bad luck, needless to say. Thought Alonso drove a good race, considering the
F14-T isn't living up to expectations yet; but, expecting it to be very soon!!

Hamilton and Mercedes are to be commended on their dominance this weekend; but, I'm confused that Rosberg
didn't seem to have the same pace as Hamilton did. I realize that Mercedes don't have team orders; but, it sure
did seem that he was doing one of two things!! Either he was purposefully holding Vettel at bay OR Rosberg's set
up was different/he was driving a different car. Not being mechanically/technically inclined, mine is a VERY
subjective opinion, so please don't get upset with my point of view.

Regardless, this race ended up being more of the same as last year, with the starring roles going to Mercedes.

Ain't nothing wrong with that!! Because, and I willingly admit it, if it were Ferrari, I would be singing a different tune!! :wavey:

I thought that was a very beautiful thing to do!!

...Bottas put in another great drive, its a pity Williams couldn't get s better result from qualifying...

It's also a pity that they couldn't get Massa to follow the directive (dare I say team order) from the pit wall not to hold Bottas up!!
What was it they said, exactly? Oh, yes, I remember "Bottas is faster than you, do not hold him up!" Pretty clear, eh?
#396885
There's no way Rosberg would have been instructed to hold Vettel back. Lewis was cruising saving his engine, he didn't need nor would have wanted Rosberg to do that. These guys have no team orders, they race.
