your not a Mclaren fan then lol

Are you accusing me of bias? I think they have a more-than-capable car, it's just that Jenson is past his prime, and Sergio is still a little inexperienced.

Sorry, when was Button at his 'prime'? I think THIS is his prime...2011 was his best performance yet. 2012, it was just lack of knowledge on how to set up a car and a teammate who was on form which made him look like dirt.

He was at his prime around 2009 and 2010. In 2009 he was simply dominant, and in 2010, he only finished fifth because that year, every single driver was on top of their game.

You do know the car in F1 is a big factor as well? No one had the rear end grip for the first half of 2009 which Brawn GP had, and that made Button look like a 'quick driver'. As soon as others had bolted on a working double diffuser, Button started coming in 4th, 5th, 6th and dragged his way to the WDC, just, after getting free bucket load of points for half a season!

It's far from 'a free bucket load of points'. You have to be a good driver to win a championship, regardless of the car that you're in. Bonus points for taking a smaller team to the top, but you can't win a championship if you're not a good enough driver.

Top 4 teams will be Mclaren, Redbull, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
Mclaren will lose it's engine supplier for 2014
Williams will get the spare Merc engines as part of signing Stoddard/Wolff as a race driver to replace Maldo

Bottas will pressure Maldo and he will start chopping people up and will not be around for 2014.

Anyone else get the feeling that Williams are SERIOUS dark horses this year? I think they could easily win a race again.

My first prediction - Marussia will beat Caterham. With the addition of KERS they already gain a few tenths, and on top, i believe they may find themselves with an ok budget thanks to Chilton and his AON backing, that i believe will be following him to F1. AON are a huge company (they sponsor Man Utd, for example), and i believe his father is the chairman of the company so the purse strings might be a bit looser there. I don't think Caterham have the same budget potential any more, now Fernandes has gone. On top of that you factor in their technical partnership with McLaren and Pat Symonds becoming a bigger part of the team, and i think you have quite a promising unit there now. I've slated them quite a lot in recent seasons but i think it might just be coming together there.

Sticking with this prediction, definitely. As much as Marussia are trying to make themselves look like idiots at the moment.

Interesting point raised actually, something i think we will likely see (for anyone who remembers) is more teams running longer chord elements (the bit that moves) on the rear wing, as McLaren did in early 2011. Because DRS is less widely used next season, there is less requirement for the rear wing to be efficent in dropping drag. The longer chord length McLaren used then supposedly generated a little more downforce but they dropped it cause it wasn't as effective in qualifying. Of course a knock on effect of this, should many teams use this design, is a less effective passing opportunity during races...

This was obviously wrong... ah well.

I'm typing from my tablet so this will be short and sorry if there are typos.

I'm sure Red Bull will be decn again this year but I'm thinking that Lotus and Mercedes will be both in for a big shout this year if Mercedes and McLaren can both make decent cars this year they'll both do really well nectar they no longer have to focus on two very different setups.
I'm not sure at ask about Ferrari however Felipe Massa has been impressing me lately so it could be one of the toughest and tightest years yet and we can't even rule out Force India or Sauber as we have seen glimmers of hope from both of them.

I'm so excited for this year possibly the most excited I've ever been for F1, I seriously cannot wait!
