There are still some tickets available, notably they all seem to be for the more expensive price categories: http://www.tickets.london2012.com/brows ... 1&offset=0. I would have thought they would have cut prices, perhaps they just haven't updated the main site (though that would surely imply they're trying to sell the same seat in different places). I read that for some venues you can turn up and queue for seats unsold or from people who didn't turn up.

And it seeems that people in Glasgow really are only interested in Rangers and Celtic Football :hehe:

Did I hear they are giving some of the vacant seats to students? Good move if they are!

Some were given out to local Schools, I also heard for armed forces personal too.

Still tickets left for the closing ceremony according to the ticketing site, over £600s though.

So, the common wisdom says that the organizer country of the Olympics usually gets a 'home boost' and wins about 50% more medals than usual (according to some report I saw the other day).
Well, so far the UK have been quite shìte :yikes:

It's what we're best at, just a pity there's not a medal for it.

So far I've watched the archery, gymnastics and weightlifting. Watching the womans weightlifting is a bit strange, loved Seen Lees hairy pits though.

Well, as Im on Gardening Leave, I have had a LOT of time to watch the olympics, and have been watching about 12 hours a day.

I need the Olympics to hurry up and f*** of so I can get my act in gear, and find a new job.

As I'm not on gardening leave, I've watched hardly ANY of it.

What exactly is gardening leave? Is that why my garden looks crappy because we don't get time off for it in the US?

Its your employer wants to get rid of you, but has to give you your contractual notice period, and rather than the awkwardness/danger of having you at the work place during that notice period, they pay you to sit at home doing sweet FA (apart from looking for new jobs, and watching the Olympics)

A more eloquent explanation

Interesting... leave it to the Brits to come up with such a pleasant name for such an unpleasant process.

It's not practiced here in the US at all. Or at least I've not heard of it or haven't been in a job that practices that. (meaning the paying you for the time) They just end the employment on the spot period.

Your garden must look spectacular.

I had that when I left my first company...my boss knew I had signed for a rival company and gave me about 5 weeks "gardening leave". I don't know what LRW is complaining about, it was awesome. Get paid to sit home and laugh at everyone going to work everyday. :D

Yeah, Ive always had that impression that the employees in the US have very little rights compared to the UK. Granted Ive only got this from TV and film - so taken with a pinch of salt.

Here, an employer really has to prove either a) you are no good at the job OR b) that the job you are doing no longer exists. However a lot of smaller companies here in the UK tend to ignore the law, and as a lot of people are ignorant of their rights, just put up with it.

Luckily (!) this is the 3rd time I have been made redundant in my life (2nd time in 3 years), and am fully aware of what processes the company have to take. So I can draw the process out, and give myself a bit more time to find a new job.
