4. He's won races. Credit where it's due, not everyone has.

That's so harsh, he's won a bloody world championship too. There's no point in any button fans on this forum arguing with you guys about it, so this thread had just become people moaning about button. It's harsh and borderline cyber bullying (except he'll probably never see this) /rant

Well he has yes, so there's another positive. He must be as good as Lewis and Kimi, cos that's all they've won too.

I've explained why I'm harsh ( perhaps unfairly so ) to him in the Mclaren thread.

Here is a positive from Button. He says the car is slower only than RBR and Lotus and so should end up on the podium for the final race.
It would be negative to say this was the usual insincere PR bull so lets say its all good. Lets see how it pans out next weekend before bashing, I mean commenting on its veracity

Not since 1980 have McLaren gone through an entire campaign without scoring a podium, but such an ignominious feat beckons this weekend as the curtain falls on this year's Formula One year.
Fifth is the highest position either Button or team-mate Sergio Perez has achieved so far this season, yet the 33 year-old Briton still has belief a top-three finish is possible in Brazil on Sunday.
"If everything goes to plan we can get a very good result, and we should still hope for a podium," Button said.
"I don't think we're far off the pace of any car apart from Red Bull, and maybe the Lotus of (Romain) Grosjean is a bit too far ahead.

You've made a statement that isn't true. There's a world of difference between what you stated, and what Button said. But of course, what Button actually said doesn't suit the kind of arguments you want to make, does it?

My point is mainly Button saying that the car is now competitive enough to be up there. And he believes and hopes for a podium if all goes according to plan.

So if during quali or after the race we hear that the car was not good enough etc etc it will follow the same pattern we have come to expect from Button over time

Before the race - yes I am going to have a good race
After practice - feels good
After quali - dont know what happened its strange
After race - the car just isnt good enough

Maybe to Buttons taste the car is not as good when the track rubbers in

So he basically lacks the grip required when the grip presents itself..... I love it!! :hehe:

The bottom line that is clear to anyone who has raced is that Button is too scared to hold his right foot to the floor unless everything is perfectly balanced

The problem I have with this is when he finds excuses and sends the team on a wild goose chase

Peerlessly it must be said

That's what annoys me. He gets everyone dancing round to sort him out because he can't find grip or balance or set up, detracting from what the team should be doing, whilst pretending he's doing a great job. And even more bizarre, people believe him, even the TP :yikes: .

Fair enough, but the kind of personal driver success that results in delivering the team that is the embodiment of F1 to its worse season ever is not going to without comment

Not sure if you caught my drift, CF6. I was referring to an earlier comment suggesting (in jest I think) that since both Lewis and Jenson had a WDC, they were equal as drivers.

[Button] says the car is slower only than RBR and Lotus...

No, that is NOT what he said.

"I don't think we're far off the pace of any car apart from Red Bull, and maybe the Lotus

It's like you guys go out of your way to rip into him.

I think we probably do, because he went out of his way to put himself on a pedestal, and didn't care who he trod on to get there.
