So in conclusion:

  • The McLaren is an awful car and seemingly getting worse.
  • It's Jenson Button's fault because he is not the god of development Lewis Hamilton.
Does that about cover it?

I am sure Jenson Button was also on the grassy knoll!

I think give it to Checo and see what he makes of it alone. Also what major updates have they introduced? That front wing has hardly anything on it! Williams are updating better than McLaren.

What they need is a Scotsman and a rookie Fin, then they'll easily win WCCs. Hop to it Whitmarsh :whip:

He was also reputed to be on the Mary Celeste during the November of 1872.

They need to get rid of Perez and get an experienced driver who'll work with the other driver in a partnership, rather than against him (like they have now).

I'll do it. Know any Fin's? :hehe:

I thought they've already got an experienced driver that will work with the other driver in a partnership rather than against him.

No, its not Buttons fault...its just a weakness, but its his fault for not retiring at the end of last year and making way for another real driver who could help McLaren.

THAT covers it. :)

I think the real problem is the departure of Paddy Lowe, he had a major role in the design of the 2013 McLaren, and he is not around to help fix the problems with his design, which was basically acknowledged by Martin Whitmarsh, it seems the new technical director, whoever he might be is struggling with Lowe's design!

So paddy purposefully made a bad car so they struggle after he leaves.

I think Lowe wasn't doing a particularly good job fixing it anyway, so we'll have to wait and see what the new designer can bring to the table, a fresh mind might create something revolutionary. But yes perhaps this new chap follows a different design strategy to Lowe, so he might struggle to fix it.

I think McLaren would be more organized than that....and if they had Lowe on a retainer and felt they needed his input to solve their issues, no way they'd let him off the leash like that. It should be a team of engineers who feed information from Lowe to the car and vice versa, and they probably know that Lowe isn't enough to cure the issue. They've just gone in a weird direction and have no idea how to get out of it. Ferrari managed a car last year that was actually quick in certain conditions and very slow in others...the McLaren just seems slow everywhere. Like a reliable version of the never raced MP4/18.

McLaren's tire strategy for Canada was downright weird.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Paddy Lowe leave McLaren before the season started ? So hasn't done any work to fix the problems ?
