Well, I think this sums up Nico and Nakajima's effort throughout the season...

Rod Nelson, Chief Operations Engineer:
We hoped that Nico had another couple of tenths in him . . .

Kazuki . . . on what would have been his fastest lap . . . ran a little wide and that was that

Well, at least in a few hours we can say goodbye and bog off to them. :wavey:

You sound far too bitter. Nakajima, fair enough was crap. But Rosberg all credit to him has done the best job he could've this year, with car that isn't all that great.

Anyways, I was watching the GP2 race today, and mainly I was watching to see how good overtaking is, and the verdict is. Hermann Tilke can't design for poo. He puts the longest straight in F1 on the circuit, and still drivers can't get a slipstream down it.

The hairpin before that massive straight means that cars spread out too much under acceleration and it means you can barely get a slipstream. In fact, there was more overtaking on the second straight, because cars were able to exit the corner closer to each other. So really I'm unsure if we'll get much overtaking. Tilke needs the boot already.

The car's fine - except for the Toyota engine - but it has suffered from not having an experienced hand to develop and set it up properly, this is something Nico and Naka cannot do for toffee.

I think people hang on to this myth of drivers being able to help develop cars dramaticly but to lay it to rest here is a comment from F1.com from the man who fans on forums all over the world claim is the best car developer on the grid Fernando Alonso

Q: How much will you be involved in the development of the next year’s Ferrari?
FA: Not a lot, as we are only drivers and not engineers,

exactly!

Development of the car is one thing; but car set-up at race weekends are just as important, this has been highlighted this season when Rubens who is excellent at car set-up wouldn't share his set-up data with Jenson; suddenly we saw Jenson have a dramatic drop off in pace and Rubens started to get the upper hand over his team mate.

yeah car setup and car development are totally different though.

Do you not agree that a driver who can give good input on how the car is handling can help with development and design?
