It isn't immediately outdated, it will always be the sum of his f1 car numbers until 44, which he will now keep. So it stays in date always.

"Today" it's up to date; but, I'm assuming you're expecting him to win "another" race, no?

I'm sure he'll win another race, but how will that affect anything? The sum if his car numbers to date will remain the same.

Thinking about It, though i saw it on twitter (that it was the sum of his F1 car numbers) it may have been a fan that posted that rather than Lewis, though the tally is correct.

So basically, his Karting number. I'm pretty sure Lewis didn't pick 44 based on a dial code of a country he no longer lives in, or the 44th president...

He picked it because it's the total of all his F1 car numbers to date. He said so on twitter.

That's kinda silly because it immediately is outdated.

Either way it's not because of the Oklahoma East Interstate, and it's funny that Merc didn't actually put up the real reason for this; if this was any other team we'd be speculating on this tiny fact.

No because it's the total number. Between 07 and 13 the numbers made 44, yes? So in 14 when he races with 44 the number will be 88 and after that 132 etc.

Yes but it's the total up to the point you chose one and stick with it.

Christ, talk about pedantic. The guy says that at the point he was asked to come up with a number, he added his previous F1 numbers and got 44, so he picked 44.
Next year his total numbers will be 44 + 44, but guess what he wont be asked to pick another number next year
whats so hard to accept?, 44 was the number at the date he picked a number

Being pedantic would be to say that 176 would come after 88. Actually, surprised kimi didn't go for magnum 44.

The important thing is that Vettel be number 5 next year.

Good to know, what's he chosen for his car number though?

I'm not being pedantic it's just that the logic is slightly flawed. I'd accept that it was his childhood Karting number but from the first time he drives with the number that's the total of all the numbers combined, it's no longer the total it's immediately wrong.

It'll always be the sum from the start of f1 career to when he had to choose a number, look at your sig and deal with it.

Mate, if he picked 29 because it was his age, then next year according to you he would realise he had made a big mistake and the world would end

Whats logic gotta do with superstition or a wish?
