I still like my cheap a$$ Blackberry Z10....fulfills all I need, and probably won't change to a new phone for another 5 years at least. I want it to outlast its predecessor. (Nokia C3 - 4 years, 7 months)

Wow that is a long time to have a phone.

The longest I had a phone was about 3 years. It was a Sony erricson (not sure what model it was now but the screen twisted (instead of flipped) I only stopped using that because I had worn all the writing off the keys. Then when I replaced the keyboard rubber it was just never the same after that.

If you haven't gotten a new device yet Jabbs, I'll be able to give you a run down on the Note 4 in a couple of days when I have a chance to play with it.

Well my samsung is poo. No internal memory , can't add apps and not very intuitive. It's my first smart phone but the next will be an iPhone. I'm not bothered about the latest one, an early model will be fine. I should pick one up not too expensive then I'll use a sim only contract for about a tenner a month. It will be my tiny weeny mobile iPad. :cloud9:

My nexus 4 is approaching 2 years old and it's still more than enough, plenty of power, usability and battery life.

The one down side is lack of space, I purchased an 8GB version but ideally I needed the 16GB variant and even then I wish it had a microSD slot so I could put a 32 gb card in it.

I don't see me upgrading for another year or two. Unless the business picks up and I have money to throw around

aphone and a Phablet model, altimeter, barometer, secure chat/mms, NFC the Apple way apple Pay meaning the world will actually get behind it. multi element lens.

There are 12 billion dollars in payment transactions that happen in the US every day. :yikes: 220k merchant locations in the US will accept it.

... and of course the iWatch.

Altimeter and barometer are gimmicks. I had one of them ruggedised Nokia that did that.

That's the thing, the deal with Apple is that they can take a gimmick and make it no so gimmicky. They'll get sports apps and a bunch of other things that are usable and that we probably haven't even conceived of yet because of the strength of developers and market influence.

How long has NFC been in place on on devices yet it's gone largely ignored. Apple comes in with a feature that's three years old at least, but also bring in the contracts with the retailers and point of sale/credit companies and I bet that in three year's time we won't remember what cash was.

Are these smartwatches going to actually be good for anything?

Yes, making Apple lots of money.
