McLaren figures they can blind the drivers behind them with brake dust in order to maintain their position. Every time they applied the brakes it was a black cloud. Both cars.

It would work, but they need to be ahead of the cars to cloud their vision, which is where this strategy epically fails :rofl:

Clearly they're confident of being ahead of their main rivals, Force India this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton is confident that Mercedes will recover from its poor Friday of practice ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix but admits "at the moment we're a long way off".

With increased expectation around Mercedes following Hamilton's victory in Hungary, both Hamilton and Nico Rosberg appeared to struggle during FP2 following a damp morning session. Hamilton ended the day with the 12th fastest time and when asked if he felt he would be in a position to challenge for pole position on Saturday, he replied: "No, at the moment we're a long way off, but we'll find the time.

"I don't feel that we started off on the right foot. We've got to make some changes but we still have time."

When it was put to Hamilton that Mercedes often starts a weekend badly and then recovers on a Saturday, he said the team was aware of the trend.

"I know why that is but I'm not going to tell you! It is that way; not every time are we going to be able to find the right way but I need to see if we can make the right changes which should help."

That kinda gives it away already, thanks Lewis.....high fuel load/engine running at 70%, what else can it be? :hehe:

It makes sense. Everyone knows they have a very very fast car, setup and tyres permitting, Why then spend time practicing going fast?
Hungary was a classic example, they did not once run optimum till quali

makes sense to always be over fueled, test alternative setups, test save fuel engine settings etc etc
Probably had the high downforce setup on all the time concentrating on sector 2.

When Lewis complains about the car, its because that particular setup can be improved, not that they have no better ones, unlike his last team

I also believe in Merc to sort their pace out, they have Brawn,Paddy and loads of other personel the excess in the enviroment of formula 1,they what goes around F1.Also they were assessing updates too, thats why they were not panicking,Brawn said on Merc website that they need to work on single lap pace on sector 1,but he said they think they know how to fix it.

Pirelli says today's tyre issues for Vettel and Alonso were "completely different" to Silverstone. Suspects it was something on the track

Someone I know had a dream last night that Hamilton qualified 5th with either Rosberg or Vettel( he can't remember which) further back behind him. Hamilton then went on to win the race.

At the risk of offending, that would be a nightmare, for me!! :banghead:

Apparently there were two right rear tyre failures, Vettel and Alonso. The drivers aren't happy. Webber has said .....we want answers and debris isn't one of them. Sutil has said he wants a signature from the FIA saying there will be no tyre issues, otherwise he won't race.

What a bunch of drama queens! I guess Sutil will be sitting in his motorhome writing hate mail to Hamilton or combing his hair 'cos there ain't nobody stupid/mad enough to sign their name to anything like that, regardless of who the tyre manufacturer is.

My advanced race prediction system says Webber is not going to have a good time.
