I do think it's on the unfair side if it was indeed labeled 'fiction'. This doesn't go under 'live and let live' since it sort of undermines the thoughts of the religious people. I'm not really religious myself but I see religion as something that 'could've been thought as history' for people who need something to turn to when/if they lose their way or need a path to follow. It's like santa, some kids refuse to let go for a long time but that doesn't make them stupid/wrong does it?

When I go to bookstores around here, all these books are under 'religion'....which is perfect. Wonder why Costco doesn't do the same.

... Wonder why Costco doesn't do the same.

Because some people don't realize that the Bible is a collection of stories that were passed down through generations that were based on an oral tradition.
Some people don't realize that thousands of years ago, not every one had a tablet or an I-pad upon which to tweet what they'd seen with their own eyes.
Some people don't recognize that to be overly simplistic by labelling something as either fiction or non-fiction, is not recommended if you expect to be taken seriously as a "book store"!

Costco pays very well and the CEO earns about $60K a year, which is pathetic; he keeps getting told by the shareholders to lower the wages of the employees but he refuses. Good guy Costco.

Also their Pizza's in the restaurants are to die for! AND FREE SAMPLES!

Have to be honest, I'm probably one of the very few hold-outs when it comes to shopping at Costco!
It annoys the living end out of me to have to pay for a membership in order to save money!!

Give me a freaking break!!

There are some very good values and there are some things priced just like everywhere else at Costco just like everywhere else, the buyer needs to know the value of what they're purchasing. They have various plans, some corporate/business some for high value customers that give you a percentage of your purchases back as a refund. If you spend a certain amount annually, I think the break even point is around 3k Considering that my family spends approximately $500 a month there, it's a no brainier.

The fact that they're willing to be a positive contributor to the social fabric by paying their employees a living wage and benefits even for part time work. I'd rather support that, than the Walmarts of the world that specifically prevent their employees from working full time so they can deny them benefits.

So you have to pay for membership and in return you get a discount... how mich is membership? What % discount?

I have not heard of anything similar in the UK? We do have things like Bookers but that is for business' but membership is free.

We have costco in the UK Jabs. But it's mainly trade only. You need to be a registered business, or be an employee of a big company who have membership. My wife can get membership through her work, for £20 a year. And if you buy in bulk, you can get almost trade prices {I believe}.

I realize that and I recognize Costco's social responsibility, it's just the principle of it all!!
Anyway, I'm almost convinced I will have to capitulate and get one... soon!! :banghead:

My mate years ago decided that everything that he needed (within reason) he would buy 5 of. Use one and sell 4 with 25% profit. It works well for him to be honest.

If you are a civil servant you can get a membership too; some large companies also give access.

And yes Wallmart were running donations in one of their stores for their employees.....
