Me too.
Some of the features may not be uber useful for some people, but then others may find them useful.

In my case... having moved to a new city... the map app, traffic info, public transit app, skype to talk/see with family hours away, weather, being able to get all emails, track bank acct, plus just plug it into my home theater for music... on one simple little square thing i can keep in my pocket...

wherever i am, i just push the screen and bam. Restaurants, bars, stores, supermarket, bus and train departure times. Direction (spoken!) to wherever i wanna go.... A few weeks ago there was this hurricaine. I had more real time info on my phone about what was happening than people at home... See below:

And i dont even have bussiness needs or play games, nor use it to buy stuff etc.

Apple Lightning authentication chip cracked before official Apple partners release their own cables
We’ve just been sent a photo of what we’re told are third party non-approved authentication chips for Apple’s (AAPL) Lightning USB cables. This is important because Apple had included an authentication chip to prevent inexpensive and potentially unsafe third-party Lightning accessories from being manufactured, and while news was reported last week the chip was cracked, this photo shows more than one clone of Apple’s original design.

Lightning Authentication Chip Cracked

I chuckled when I ran across this today. For those of you that haven't been watching the US presidential debates, China stealing IP from American companies is the new chest thumping ritual now that nuclear armageddon with the Russians isn't so scary.

This is all getting so bad that Apple's new iPad mini is now more likely to come with a display from LG instead of Samsung.
Apple looks to add Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III with Jelly Bean and others to patent lawsuit

Samsung asked the United States District Court for the Northern District of California last week for permission to add several recently released Apple (AAPL) products such as the iPhone 5, fourth-generation iPad and iPad mini to its ongoing patent infringement suit. The Cupertino-based company then fired back and accused Samsung of infringing its technology in the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.1 and Galaxy S III. Apple is now asking Judge Paul S. Grewal to consider six additional recently released Samsung products to the suit, according to FOSS Patents. The iPhone-maker wants to add the Galaxy S III running Android 4.1, the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 10.1 2, Galaxy S III mini and Rugby Pro to its patent infringement lawsuit. The case is expected to go on trial in March of 2014, at which point most, if not all, of these products will be irrelevant.

I'm really getting sick and tired of the Apple Vs Samsung Vs Android BS; time to sort out a licensing deal and stop dragging this through the courts; all this ultimately does is stifle innovation!

Lets face it there is only so many ways you can touch a screen to make it do something.

Indeed; this whole debacle is Apple's fault; Apple ran out of ideas so have tried to take their rivals out of the game by legal methods, so in retaliation, Samsung/Google have filed their own law suits. It's literally tit for tat legal battles now, in the end they'll have to agree licensing deals, stop the BS now and get some deals sorted out!

You're sure? I can think of many, many ways :whip::twisted:

Yes but most of those ways involve the screen touching you not you touching the screen. :whip:

I'd love Samsung to keep harassing Apple in the courts till the death of 1 of them...since I don't like either of them. :hehe:

You may get your wish according to BGR and DigiTimes
Apple’s (AAPL) huge success in the mobile space has benefited Samsung in a number of ways. For one thing, it gave Samsung a step-by-step guide on how to improve its own smartphones, as revealed by an internal document used as evidence in a recent patent trial. It also made Apple the South Korea-based company’s biggest parts customer. Samsung had previously been estimated to pull in $13 billion in revenue next year through its various parts deals with Apple, but the companies’ ongoing patent fights have seemingly taken a toll.

Reports that Apple is shifting its component contracts away from Samsung continue to trickle out. Most recently, Apple is said to have moved from Samsung to Amperex Technology and Tianjin Lishen Battery for its iPad and MacBook batteries. Now, according to a new report, Apple is about to hand Samsung its biggest blow yet.

Apple will soon shift its CPU orders away from Samsung to the world’s No.1 chip maker, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Digitimes’ unnamed sources claim. With a need for some 200 million mobile processors each year for its various iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, such a shift would be devastating for Samsung.

Digitimes reports that Apple may make the switch from Samsung to TSMC as soon as next year.

Is anyone surprised? I found this over on BGR today, The full blog post is below but there are some additional links at the site.

Were Nietzsche alive today and covering the tech industry, he might say something along the lines of, “And what you outsource to the abyss, the abyss outsources also onto you.” Over at Asymco’s blog, James Allworth has written a very interesting piece arguing that Apple (AAPL) really has itself to blame for the rise of smartphone rival Samsung (005930). In fact, Allworth contends that Apple’s reliance on Samsung as a component supplier may have taught the South Korean manufacturer everything it needed to know about effective smartphone design and supply chain management.

Allworth’s argument can be summarized thusly: Apple spent a good part of the last decade thumping its competition because it had gone through “a long gestation period” where it perfected both its products and its business practices in ways that couldn’t have been easily copied by competitors unless they were privy to Apple’s trade secrets. To replicate Apple’s success in this area, it would likely take competitors years of going through similar gestation periods just to catch up.

But Allworth then throws something else into the mix: What if the biggest threat to Apple didn’t come from well-known electronics manufacturers such as Nokia (NOK) and RIM (RIMM), but from the companies it had long relied upon to supply it with components?

“When Apple went through this transformative process, where the design whittled down the broad range of offerings to just a few, and they generated the scale on the business side that accompanied that — they weren’t actually the only one to go through that process,” Allworth contends. “Apple’s partners — their suppliers — went through it with them. And they’ve got very big, and very good at what they do. Samsung, obviously, is among those partners.”

The irony, of course, is that Apple’s mastery of its supply chain and its approach to outsourcing have been two of the reasons why the company has turned into one of the most profitable the world has ever seen. And if Allworth’s theory is correct, then it’s no wonder that Apple is in such a rush to ditch Samsung as a component supplier, because otherwise any further refinement of its design and management practices would only stand to benefit the company that has become its fiercest rival

Yeah well, Apple is going to use a Taiwanese supplier in lieu of Samsung. And also, T. Cook announced that Apple will manufacture computers back home in the US again soon.

I think that Apple is starting to move their manufacturing back to the US for two reasons, to appear more of an American company; as everyone knows that they manufacture outside of the US on the cheap, including the fanboys/girls and also they are protecting themselves if they do get hit with an import ban!

Assembled in the USA is as far as we'll go, but hey it's better than nothing.
