Looks like they're bagging him (helping him breath) which shows it is serious.

On a positive side, his head doesn't show any obvious signs of serious trauma.

It's been confirmed by a few sources now that he has definitely broken his left arm and leg. The arm is complicated because he already had metal in there from a 2003 accident.

WOW, not good news to wake up to this morning. I hope he recovers quickly but I also really wish that he's able to come back to the sport. This is a serious blow to fans, Renault, and most of all Robert, nobody wins here.

I agree with Spanky that it will likely be Senna driving, but we may see both drivers in the next round of testing this coming week. We may see the Renault at the top of the time charts every day simply with Senna and Grosjean trying to show each other up.

Tragic blow. Those images are indicative of WAY more than fractures, he probably even went into shock. I don't know given the demands of the sport if we'll see him back in F1 this year or ever. I'm trying to remain optimistic for him.

Official statement:-
13:55 Dr. Carrozzino Hospital Santa Corona announced that Kubica has been tested to assess possible damage to internal organs and brain. Asked about the possibility of amputation of hands, Carrozzino replied that no decision has yet been taken. "The decision of amputation can not be taken lightly. I do not deny nor confirm."

Unofficial but reported in a few places he is in surgery now for internal bleeding and they have a specialist micro surgeon for his hand.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, but following surgery in 2003 after a serious road accident as a passenger that left him with titanium bolts in his arm, there will be doubts about his ability to continue in the sport.
The latest Renault statement read: "After undergoing extensive medical checks this morning, Robert Kubica has been diagnosed with multiple fractures to his right arm, leg and hand.
"He is currently undergoing surgery at the Santa Corona Hospital in Peitra Ligure."

On a side note I'm surprised he was allowed to do rallying, I assumed f1 teams (like football teams in the Uk) would limit the activities their drivers could do because of risk.
