Odd thing to say, are you sure your not just reading your own bias into this?

He's not been first plenty of times in practice sessions, doing more laps isn't inherently linked to doing quicker laps.
Ferrari have issued an update to what Fernando Alonso was up to today. "[He] began by tackling a series of aerodynamic tests, aimed at gathering vital data to analyse the behaviour of the new car. Then, in the second part of the morning, which saw the session interrupted several times by cars stranded out on track, Fernando concentrated on carrying out a comparison test between various types of Pirelli tyre. In total, the F150 has so far completed 59 laps." There we are then.]

March 12th at the end of Q3 is the only lap time that will begin to count.

I disagree...the Ferrari might struggle to make Q3 maybe? :hehe:

Forget Q3, they now have the 107% rule to try to break

i didnt even say it with conviction, just a thought that occured.

and more laps is definitely linked to faster times.

Well, I explained why I failed to see your reasoning, criticising a driver with a lack of reasoning is fanboyism nonsense, you still haven't provided any.

Ferrari did most laps just about every day of every practice last year.

I think we (the forum fans) place a hell of a lot more emphasis on the competitive stuff. If you go to any of these practice days you will see it's all very much work work work for all the teams. They have their programs laid out and they work there way through them.

Just as an aside, each team only gets very limited sets of tyres for testing, so, doing more laps means your running on more degraded tyres and you need to conserve them much more than people doing less laps. In reality, if your doing a lot of laps, your times will be higher than if your doing fewer.

To show you how meaningless these lap times are, last year they were doing 1:11's.
Also, at the last practice last year Ferrari and Red Bull spent most of the time doing lap times out of the top 5, yet they went on to dominate the first race.

i dont provide any because i dont believe it.....not truly anyway, just an observation made from the coinvidence of alonso doing what seemed above and beyond whats needed to look better, he is driving for ferrari now.

also, criticism, nothing wrong with being competitive last time i checked, so please i do get tired of the same users doing everything in their power to mindlessly stir trouble out of absolutely nothing. Lets not.

Firstly; Thank you for not typing this reply with your elbows or your toes! Secondly, you could simply do what I do and just see the brighter side of thing, just a simple rationalization that says, perhaps he needs more practice, perhaps they're frantically looking for extra time they don't have. See... how happy that makes you feel, instead of bashing Alonso for needing to come out on top in testing? HRT can run a lap with three laps worth of fuel, come out on top and it doesn't tell us anything.

As long as he can get his through his programme, doesnt hurt if he blitzes a couple of laps... just to show off? well, how is anyone certain the rest of the guys aren't trying the same?
Far as we're concerned, they SHOULD all be going for the top all the time. Also, more laps means more laps on heavy load and worse tires. But that doesn't matter anyway. testing is for teams to get some runs in order to get some data (specific info they're looking for), not necessarily the fastest times, and to give the recreational drugs fanclub (see here http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/39689.html) something to trip about :)

In any case... Mclaren (and some others) should be doing the same instead of playing hide-then-copy to the real avanti teams going all out from day 1 ;)

see now this is a subtle bash, not mine WB, its the famous gangbangers again, one persob sees somethong they dont like, which attracts the attention of others who wont like it, and they all go on a random tangent. against the main rival team/driver, its like they're stationed on the DMZ korea with how quick to react they are. nobody bashed alonso in the first place!
