10 Dead and 90+ are missing from just the floods in the last few days. Since the floods started in December, I'm sure there have been ALOT more deaths.

Flood is going to be even worse than 1974. Could be the worst flood Brisbane has seen for 118 years.

Queensland Raceway in Ipswich (Which host a v8 supercar round every year) has been effected. The resurfacing has been delayed until November so they can resurface public roads.

Here is a picture. The water probaley got alot higher too!

12/13 confirmed dead for the recent floods. The Ipswich lord mayor has confirmed that someone did die but for some reason it hasn't been added to the figures for some reason. The figure is certain to rise. 30+ people have died due to the floods since the floods began in mid December. It is certain to rise.

The Brisbane river is going to peak at 5.2m at 4am local time (5 and a quarter hours from this post). It might sound small but this is just EXTREMLY massive! It won't start going down for ATLEAST 12-18+ hours.

:yikes: That is massive just alittle over 17ft. I hope we have no forum members being directly effected or any of their family members or relatives.

Good news! The peak was only 4 and a half meters (Above normal height, I Should point out). This will have saved ALOT of homes. Still there were some homes which have been pretty badly hit :( The river won't start to go down for about 12 hours
A 300m slab of concrete walkway, which was part of the Brisbane river walk, broke free and drifted down the river out of control and this posed a massive safety threat to some Bridges. Hpwever some skilled tug-boat drivers managed to keep it under control!

However the death toll is still going to rise once the clean-up begins. Some reports saying it could be 40+

Thats very good news mate and as you said the toll could rise once the cleanup begins. Man the worlds overall inclimatic weather over the past few years is just crazy.

Despite the good news the damage is shocking. I think when we heard the news that it wasn't as bad as expected we thought it'd just be minimal damage and just a few suburbs would have been hit reasonable! But the images on the rolling coverage on tv of this event is just amazing!!!!! There are a lots and lots and lots suburbs which have been VERY hard hit. Most houses you can barley see the roof! It is just amazing seeing these houses which are only just a 5 min away from the heart of the city! The CBD got has been flooded and famous icons have been flooded/swept away. You just can't picture stuff like this happening to a capital city/major centre.
Thank god we only got the 4.5 and not the 5.5!!! They were saying it's gunna be 2+ years to recover. But it look at the images and how wide scale they are across Queensland it will be ALOT longer than that

There's a cyclone warning for the coast of Queensland around the 26th of January which happens to be Australia day! Might hit land around Brisbane. These are computer models but it's not looking good.

those models should be taken seriously, because i can remember a documentary about huricane katrina and about how the experts were ignored and we all know what followed

It's true there's a cyclone off the coast at the moment...but it's moving away from the coast. However there is a cyclone forming nar the coast around Astralia Day. The problem for Brizzy atm won't be the cyclone itself. But it'd be the rain that would come with it. It'd be a diaster if more rain came and Brisbane had to do it all over again after just a week or so. The developing cyclone may not even have a effect...but I'd be still wary!

Videos of what the water has done to houses is unbelieveable! It will take more than a few years for everything to go back to semi-normal. Not even gunna bother think about how long it will take for it to return to fully normal. We probaley can't even think about that for years and years and years.

In 1974 they didn't have the Wivenhoe Dam and the floods weren't as wide spread as this. The 1974 floods may have reached a meter higher in the big country town of Brisbane. But now it is a big major centre and a lot more damage overall. They are saying if it wasn't for the Wivenhoe Dam it could have been 8+ meters above normal levels in Brisbane!!!!!!!!

Death toll at 16, plenty still missing. Wouldn't be suprised if some people were never found again. A body was found 80km away from where he was reported missing. The clean-up begins...and boy Brisbane is an utter mess, some suburbs are still flooded!
