^ Sticking to the thread title, Robin Williams, I would have to watch it.

It's not about how good the movie is, actually it could be the opposite. The movie might sound like a bag of poo, but if Robin Williams is in it...I shall watch!!!!!

Good Morning, Vietnam?

Missed it.

Jakob the Liar?

Missed it.

Good Will Hunting?

Missed it.

Dead Poets Society?

Missed it.

The World According to Garp?

Missed it.

There are some gems, some fine performances in his palmares.

So you see since I've missed so many of his great film roles, perhaps that's why I see him as a comedian... I did also miss RV which you've left off your list of his palmares. :D

Anthony Hopkins, Sean Connery, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Sidney Poitier, Al Pacino, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, Will Smith, Russel Crowe, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Matt Damon, Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, Toshiro Mifune, Cary Grant, John Hurt, Louis de Funès, Alain Delon, Michel Piccoli, Marcello Mastroianni, Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn, - I'm sure there are many more...

Where the wimmens at, DD?

Good list, though! Even if you did drift into old fart category a bit at the end :P

I simply followed your pattern and listed just the XY-chromosome carriers, for now...

Old farts, yes - but they deserve mentioning in my opinion - I will watch any Omar Sharif or Toshiro Mifune movie. And when you look at the list in its entirety, there aren't many young actors listed at all, the youngest probably being Matt Damon, most of the rest would probably qualify as old farts. Though Johnny Depp (who would be on my list of course, but was already mentioned before) I would never call old fart :cloud9:

Oopsy daisy! I did intend to list some women, but somehow got carried away with my XY chromosome beefcakes. Here's some gals that fit the category:
Joan Cusack, Mary Steenburgen, Dianne Wiest, Diane Keaton (which reminds me, Michael Keaton is another much watch), Meryl, Katherine Heigl, Sally Field, Julia Roberts and Arnolds partner in Kindergarten cop.

As to the oldies, Omar Shariff is old, old school (plus I hate that gap in his front teeth). Paul, Clint, and Rob are more in the Steve McQueen category...timeless!

Marilyn Monroe, Ingrid Bergman, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Jodie Foster, Emma Thompson, Kathy Bates, Holly Hunter, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Kim Basinger, Charlize Theron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, Juliette Binoche, Cameron Diaz, Nastassja Kinski, Scarlett Johansson, Brigitte Bardot, Isabelle Adjani, Natalie Portman, Isabelle Huppert, Rachel Weisz, Catherine Deneuve, Helen Mirren, Helena Bonham Carter, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Connelly, just too many...

Thanks for the XX list. I've thought a lot but I really had a difficult time segregating the great actress from the vavavoom. I'm in line with your list for the most part, Jodie foster I love, also Holly hunter, Raising Arizona... maybe I should watch that tongiht.

I'd add Isabella Rosellini, Selma Hayek, Pam Grier, Audrey Tautou, loved Amelie; Frances McDormand in Fargo was phenomenal.

I agree with every selection after the first four. I'm really just not a fan of old movies, I hate how whenever they are scheduled on the telly over here, they seem to automatically garner five stars. Just because a movie is old and deemed a classic does not mean it's something worth watching.

That being said, any Alfred Hitchcock movie is awesome :morepopcorn:

Isabella? Her mom was so much better though. Audrey, oui! Frances WAS good in Fargo, but I wouldn't necessarily watch a movie just because she's in it.

Well then - you should be happy with Ingrid and Grace in that case.
Marilyn and Sophia are both quite often underrated - they were/are fine actors in their own right beyond the bombshell image they carried.

I'd watch any Hitchcock movie, Ingrid and Grace were incidential.

I just can't stand Marilyn and her breathy little innocent delivery, blech! At least Sophia always had some vrrooom! to her. Either way, neither of the two would make my list 8-)

Ever watched 'Misfits'? MM showed what she was capable of if given the chance, alas, she left too early to completely evolve.
