New tyres, new diffuser rules well originally intended diffuser rules, KERS, I think it would be silly to make assumptions But Redbull who had a very good single diffuser at the start of 09 should be sitting pretty. The tyres seem pretty durable from Pirellis tests so the teams should be able to adjust easily enough.

I forgot to say in my earlier post under Red Bull, their front wing. Given that teams will be loosing a lot of down force with the changes to the diffuser, that front wing that isn't flexible but bends to the pejeezus will become even more of an advantage unless the other teams can produce their own versions.

As Gaz mentioned earlier and I forgot to mention is that Renault could be a major player especially with Kubica, unsure about Petrov's future with the team although I thought he he had a better than average season for a rookie.

I think Mclaren will be on top next year. I say this because I am a fan and predictions this early are silly so anything goes. The only thing guaranteed for next season is that Ferraris will be painted red. Though I am very interested in how much lotus advance over the off season. It seems as if they are making nothing but the right steps forward.

The adjustable wing has my interest though. Adjustable wings + KERS at the same time?

What are the governing rules for the adjustable wing?

I am going to have to go with lewis hamilton. reason: at this point I think he will have the best car, mclaren has plenty of experience with KERS, they are going to get the aerodynamics right, and I think he has the experience with his team to make it work on questionable tires.

Does Mercedes have access to McLaren's KERS from last year? Wasn't it developed jointly? This might help the Mercedes team next year...

Hmmm good question??

at the end of the day its car dependent.

As we've seen from 2009 you can't stick Alonso or Hamilton in a bad car and expect them to be amazing.

They can drag a car up the grid but they can't do it all the time.

I doubt we'll see a dominance from red bull again since the other teams will have caught up

And i suspect Mercedes and possibly Renault will be up there since they have given themselfs more development time.

Look at Ferrari and McLaren 2008 to 2009 they were fighting till the end in 2008 were as RBR and Brawn (Honda) stopped and concentrated on 2009 and it paid dividends.

gaz has certainly got it right, 2009 proved that even lewis and alonso in poor machinery cant be amazing but the great turn around from mclaren allowed lewis to get back at the front, and i think another forumer has mentioned it but RBR cant just turn up and expect to dominate because teams like mclaren and ferrari are going to catch up

it was mercedes who supplied the KERS unit to mclaren, hence why they were so fast in straight lines last year :)

I'll be a little more mathmatical.

In the past 2 seasons Red Bull have won 15 races out of 36, Ferrari 6 from 36, McLaren 7 from 36.... the rest were won by Brawn in 2009.

That means Red Bull...including a season with KERS (and they didn't have it), and a season with F-ducts and Double Diffusers has won more races than the two strongest teams put together....over 2 years!...Nothing is going to change.

Red Bull will be the strongest team again next year. The rules just simply don't change enough and they will move ahead with further developments.

With so many new things on tap, I don't foresee anything revolutionary like the F-duct this year and certainly Red Bull McLaren and Ferrari will again be strong. Mercedes will make a herculean effort, and will be looking for an equivalent leap. They need to begin justifying their investment. There will also be major influxes cash coming into some teams especially Sauber. The aero formula will be simplified with the banning of the DD and F-duct and greater emphasis will be placed on tire wear balance and braking. Pirelli is already warning the drivers their intent to introduce finicky rubber.

I believe the winning constructor next year will have a Mercedes engine and KERS but I do hope we get more than just 3 constructors capable of winning races. That was in my opinion the only flaw to this year's competition.

The WDC... it's foolish to speculate now, but we'll have the usual suspects I'm sure. In the beginning of the season Bernie predicted Vettel would be the 2010 WDC, the old coot certainly picked the winner...
