I would like to see Kobayashi in a Ferrari but I just think I'd prefer to see him in a car with a Japanese engine.

Err, what cars that then?

Honda / Toyota coming back to the sport. Honda supplied engines for a long time...

I know, but that's not current was my point, unless I missed something which I was checking.

Yeah, kick out Massa and put Kobayashi in there. Though it would be magic if Kobayashi could be WDC one day, so Ferrari isnt the place to go, he needs to rename himself Fido and bring Alonso his bone at every race.

No seats available right now. Unless Renault show more improvement next season, they can kick out my new hero, Petrov, and replace him with Koba. That'd be cool.

I do because it would justify his ability and potential, but at the same time there's less opportunity to create great racing at the front...!

He is a talented chap.

A lot of the "bansai" comments came from when he became the driver of a tobogan rather than an F1 car when wings fell off..twice!

Even Brundle admited he was wrong about him, calling him a crasher and only there to please japanese intrests, but after midway of season\Suzuka, he said he was impressed by the chap.

I think Kobayashi could make a name for himself in the renault, but i believe he will still be in the sauber next year. Though with the transfers last year being so all over the place till the last minute, i wont hold my breath.

Roll on 2011!

[quote="hesketh308"]Hmmm, thinking about it, i quite liked Kobayashi at Sauber this year. He was the fiery racer who was part of the underdog team, and almost always proved good entertainment to watch and follow, and I would quite like it to stay that way :P

Very true, I think Kobayashi is a great driver and one of the most entertaining drivers. I think he is a bit too aggressive sometimes when the pass has already been made but he was awesome in suzuka and valencia to name a few races this year.

And now without BMW power, sauber is now an underdog team like you said and most people admit to liking when underdog teams do well, like myself.

Ive only ever seen a better season/race debut and that was from hamilton, who had a front running mclaren,

this: " give him another season to mature" is in my opinion defunct. A season and a bit is enough to learn to race a car, if you dont believe me, then watch his footage of pretty much every race this year, hes shown he can play the strategic game, andnthe overtaking aggressive game, last season he defended from kimi for loads of laps and succeeded, this season he overtook alonso pretty easily, and a bloody fantastic move on buemi at the final corner of valencia, oh god and the ones at suzuka. Hes as mistake prone as Hamilton and Vettel are so why should be held back from a better seat.
Lets break this japanese drivers are poor stereotype and put this prodigy in massas seat, or petrovs.

well i think my comment is fair mainly because if he did go to somewhere like renault and doesnt achive the same brilliance that he's found at sauber then he could be in trouble :( but i hope it works out for him he deserves it! :)

Kobayashi is hardly a bottom driver. He's the top scoring rookie and he's certainly not in the best car of all the rookies. If driver skill was equal he should have been outscored by more people than he did. He's made some great overtaking moves, race strategies and put a car in or close to q3 when it really isn't fast enough to be there
