Heh, the track is apparently "quite unique". I doubt that, for some reason. It kinda looks like a big cut and paste job using corners from others tracks to me.

Isnt that what the ultimate track should be? A combo of all the best corners that have ever existed? Not saying this has been achieved but that would theoretically be the best track. And surely its getting pretty hard to make new corners as there is only so much you can do with changing direction.

There are certain angles to turn left and right. Apart from that, elevation changes. And then, straights. How much more "unique" can a track get....

Compare all the Tilke tracks to the non-Tilke tracks and you might see what i am getting at.

well, Sandy.. I think we would all agree that Tilke is not *able* to produce a new Suzuka, Spa or Nurbungring so..
I don't know, I guess we'll have to see how the cars race on it before judging it.

It's going to be difficult for Tilke to match those tracks, because of the project management style of today. He's given a 'site' to work on and normally this site would be a flat land of mass which could serve as an amphitheatre to the crowd.

The classic tracks like Spa and Monza was built just so that the circuit goes around the obstacles, hills, mountains, etcetc and the amazing elevation changes and length, everything just turned out very well. I believe it was more 'spontaneous' and that helped make those tracks classics. Like the old Hockenheim ring, when they wanted to make it more 'spectator friendly'....we got this result. :banghead:

Yes Tilke might make bad tracks or tracks which dont have much overtaking but what does that have to do with it being cut and paste? A track featuring Eau Rouge, 130R, Turn 8 from Turkey, Pouhon, the Nurburgring chicanes and parabolica will still be unique as no other track features the same thing.

I don't see how it is unique when the individual corners are ripped off or very similar to ones on other tracks. For me it takes something away from the spectacle of going to one particular track with that special corner on it too. Why not try and create something new like he did with Turn 8 in Turkey?

Tilke always has the same combinations of corners is what i was getting at originally with the 'cut and paste' bit. I wasn't expecting people to take it so literally! :P Long straights into slow corners, maybe a faster twistier section, job done. It's very boring. I appreciate that he's trying to create overtaking spots but as we've seen at many places, you can't really force it.

Just widen the track in certain places/corners to widen the line, instant overtaking opportunities.
