I would have a punt on Jenson doing well; maybe not a win but a decent podium, maybe a win if it rains, if you remember he claimed his first victory here in a BAR Honda. But realistically, Ferrari have the dominant race pace right now; I would like to see Massa win but if it's line astern I doubt that Ferrari will allow Massa to win. Fernando has obviously got preferential treatment in his contract. I don't believe he is as good a driver as he's made out to be; in the words of the great Murray Walker "catching is one thing, overtaking is another" - show us some of that supposed brilliance Fernando and pass your team mate fair and square [/end of rant].

Fair enough. But what if that teammate pulls a Vettel, or a Kubica move for that matter and refuses to give way when the place is clearly lost? What if that results in a Red Bull like incident that takes the team out of contention for the championship. Would they not look as stupid as Red Bull did for allowing such a mishap? If the driver is likely to not play fair with his team mate...should the team allow them to go wheel to wheel? If Smedley and company KNEW that Massa would fight tooth and nail....aren't they pretty much required, in their own interest, to not allow it? Like McLaren did with Button and Hammy earlier this season?

Of course they are. If it were your money that would go up in flames when the two cars touched....come on, wouldn't you do the same? I certainly would. As would any other team on the grid..which has been shown over and over again.

The short answer is NO I wouldn't have ordered Massa to move over for Alonso; I am very much a racing purist; I like to see team mates go wheel to wheel, fighting for position. Team orders just leave me with a feeling of being robbed of a good race. I was watching some of the old Senna footage on Top Gear and that was real racing; even if Ayrton himself wasn't above being 'naughty' at times. Too much political BS has crept into F1 in recent years and that for the most part is ruining the sport we love!

You guys need to take this over to the umpteen other threads debating this... let's keep this thread reserved for next week's scandal OK? :D

Since we can;t bet on races anymore... let's take bets on what the next scandal will be :D:twisted:
BTW... betting is wrong.

Who's to say this week's scandal will not be next week's scandal? Massa gets another call to slow down for Alonso to pass but Massa still fuming from Germany; stamps on the brake and Alonso ploughs straight into the back of Massa taking both Ferrari's out of the race. Sound plausible?

I like my scenario better, he wing clips Alonso's RR into turn 1.

Now that would make me stand up and cheer! If you are going to throw a fit over being the slow guy on the team...throw your career out the window at the same time. Take a stand, give the finger to the pit wall and after both drivers get out of the cars...punch Alonso in the face for good measure. Yeah baby...MyOwn's plan has my vote!

That's happened already... the other way around though. Massa got the flat tire.

hehe that's exactly what i thought was going to happen in Hockenheim! i really though Massa some sort of failure and that he was going to catch Alonso's front wing with one of those wobbles.

I hope Massa comes out balls to the wall to show Ferrari and the world that he can be faster. Im sure behind closed doors mid-week he is being told to quialify and finish behind alonso. The media will love to give alonso sh*t because of the bottom that he is. I hope it gets to him. I wouldnt want him to suffer so much if he wasnt complaining/whining. Red bull should excel since the heat is off of them so they can concentrate on winning. Seems to be tension between both drivers in the top 3 teams.

Eh?

Massa won't do anything rash, if he was going to he wouldn't have given the place for his race win right in the heat of the race. He knows what to do now, and will probably move over by himself in future.

What I'm most interested in seeing, is how Massa actually does, I suspect his confidence and fight that he seemed to have finally regained in Germany will be physiologically knocked out of him now. And Ferrari will suffer in the WCC.

it looks like chandok is out for hungary and longer

Sakon Yamamoto will continue to race for the Hispania team at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Japanese driver replaced Bruno Senna in Britain and then Karun Chandhok in Germany, and will continue to stand in for the Indian at the Hungaroring.
"I can't wait to go back to the Hungaroring as I know the circuit already very well from my Formula 1 races with Super Aguri, Spyker F1 and with ART in GP2 series," said Yamamoto in a team preview.
The team said Chandhok was still part of the team and that he may return to the racing seat later in the year.

real shame for him but i guess the team has to do what it has to do, and maybe he will be with ant and david on 5Live during FP1&2 which would be great.

I suspect we have seen the last of Karun Chandhock, which is a shame, he seems like a nice guy and not a bad driver; never going to set the world alight but has shown some potential! if HRT are to continue into next season they have set their stall out as being also-rans as it looks like it's pay drivers all the way.

I thought they were going to rotate the three drivers round each race ?.
