I'm pretty certain the cosworth ain't the most powerful engine on the grid. I had heard that it had some kind of upgrade recently that increased the power some but I'd be surprised if it was anywhere near the Ferrari or Merc engine. Maybe on a par with Renault.

Everything I come across on engines is what someone's heard or consensus on things but I've not see hard numbers on fuel efficiency and horsepower, I guess it will be a moot point if they switch to 1.X liter turbos everyone will have to develop test and benchmark new engines and we'll get some concrete data points.

I came across some figures a while ago and posted them here. Whether they are real or not who knows! But at the same time who is really to say they are definitely wrong?

Here are the figures:

Mercedes FO108W = 155KG tank running optimal 760HP
Ferarri 056 = 165kg takn running at optimal 755HP
Renault RS27 = 140KG tank running at optimal 745HP
Toyota RVX-09 = 135KG tank running at optimal 738HP
BMW P86/9 = 158KG tank running at optimal 752HP

And for the Cosworth:

Yeah i heard 770hp but it needs 180kg of fuel. Not sure if that's out of date though, given that the Cossie is now rev limited (it ran up to 20k rpm in 2006).

Like other people have said before on this topic as well, the cosworth may be the most powerful and needs the most fuel but also loses power quicker than other manufactures
