The idea was to try and pass as many cars as possible not caring about conserving the super-softs. Then pit at the 1st SC for the rest of the race. It changed slightly because SC was on the 1 lap, but the idea just took a small variant. I was surprised though to see he almost got past Lewis.

It was a very good strategy. As by having an early stop, Alonso would be in clear air while those he was racing would be in trains. The early safety car period just magnified the effect of the strategy.

Was a very good strategy. Though had a fair amount of luck, the safety car (although that was reasonably predictable) and Rubens getting a great start and holding everyone up after.

Alonso would've had Hamilton but McLaren worked it out quickly and pitted Hamilton.

You're right. I think Mclaren caught up on Alonso's strategy and pitted Lewis early, since he was already 'losing' time to Massa.
At first I thought, why would Lewis pit so early? until I saw him come out right in front of Alonso...

To be clear, I'm not changing topics as this pertains to Alonso's position....
SCHUMACHER GOT A PENALTY THUS GIVING ALONSO 6TH PLACE. WOOHOO!

Ridiculous.

I knew something stupid like that was going to happen, considering this is the FIA we're talking about, a bunch of morons.

Not really the rules were pretty clear... even to me. Plus I'm starting to like them more and more

The move was like the Schumi of old. Didn't mind it was on Alonso because It was an outstanding piece of ingenuity, to go the go-karting line to get better traction knowing that Alonso was on those tyres. Only driver thinking outside the box. 8-)

If a British driver did the same move, do you think honestly that Hill will hand them a 20-sec pen??
