I would like to see some mickey mouse contraptions on some cars. Perhaps then they wouldn't all be carbon copied duplicates of each other and we might see some overtaking.

How would Mickey Mouse contraptions on cars benefit overtaking? The more that airflow is disturbed by a car, the harder it is for cars to follow. Many Mickey Mouse contraptions actually increase turbulence, or increase the aerodynamic sensitivity of the car. The more the cars are restricted, the more likely we are to see overtaking.

and the drivers are penalized if an overtaking maneuver results in anything that raises an eyebrow

Go back to your xbox

Bill wern't you critizing Lewis only a few weeks ago for dodgy defending now you want some racing action?

The fact that you don't see the difference between blatant blocking and technical changes to induce passing just shows how ignorant of racing you are

No i ment this:

If the cars aren't capable of overtaking, and the drivers are penalized if an overtaking maneuver results in anything that raises an eyebrow.....won't we just continue to see one follow the leader race after another?

Frozen engines, basically frozen aerodynamics, spec'd tires...tell me, where is the innovation that would make F1 the pinnacle they so often claim to be? Everything is spec'd. Honestly, it's looking more and more like Nascar with right hand turns to me. I'm not a McLaren lover by any means but I applaud any team with the balls to attempt an innovation these days. Where is the cutting edge of motorsport? Anyone want to bet on whether or not there is a single overtake next week?

Honestly, Australian V8 Supercars is a far more exciting series these days.

Yep it is getting pretty sad isn't it  ?

Reckon my RX8 could take your Imaginary Posh Beetle around Laguna Seca.

i think it should be on a neutral track, so come down here and race for pink slips!

since he'll be turning up on a bus with an xbox console, i think i'll just say i win.

That and it would cost me more than the car's worth to ship it down to, well down under.

Austrailian V8 Supercars already was more exciting. Has been for many years.

It's a gamble spending resources on something that helps your pace legally, knwing there's a chance it'll get banned. It's part of the game. I guess it would have been worse if they never tried at all.

Their advantage would have been more useful had it gone undetected for several races. Perhaps there could have been a way to completely conceal the scoop in the airbox, say, but of course how do you hide the fin going to the wing?

With the news that it will be banned in 2011 and if I was a team owner I would not waste anymore developement time and resources on it. The F-duct imho has not shown any significant advantage to justify its 'drain' so I would get back to the basics of aero efficiency.
