Report?

For University.

Haha, yes i could have guess that mate. I thought it was on the history of the FIA (going back to FISA/FOCA, etc)...?

Briefly, so we do not stray off topic, it was on the development of Formula One both economically and politically as a result of the FOCA/FISA confrontation. The changing nature of sponsorship is something which I could have went on to write about, but sadly no wordage.

I thought this thread was about Ferrari's engines blowing.

Surely all the smoke coming out of Massa/Alonso's car is stronger subliminal advertising for Marlborough than some white stripes.

See here is a photo of Massa having a Marlborough whilst trying to qualify.

When McLaren had Peugeot engines, and they were marlboro red and white then, there was a joke about the cars running on Marlboro smoke. If the smoke got out, the car would stop. The joke came from all the times they would suddenly let out all their smoke upon the green light and not moving.

I think this is only coming up now due to what is being pushed for in Oz with cigarette packaging.

Up till now, no one has really given a flying f*ck. :drink:

people should give a flying f*** to be honest, too many people I know have died from cigarette related cancers. And it's about time Ferrari especially in this day and age got a new sponsor!

I have never heard of one single person who has start smoking cause of an advert on a bloody F1 car though. Not one.

Surely it'd only affect someone already heavily influenced anyway? You won't be able to look at that and instantly think of cigarettes without prior knowledge. I suppose whoever wants it banned has to provide some evidence that the effect it has is great enough to be considered an advert?

Are Ferrari getting paid for the barcode?

Are you saying marketing is a crock? :hehe: why is malboro pumping x amount of money in if they didn't get anything out of it?
and I'm not having a go cos it's Ferrari, I am glad McLaren got rid of their tobacco sponsorship but if they still had west I'd be calling for them to get rid of it too!
