i agree with myownalias on this, if you want to watch a civil gentlemanly sport go watch lawn bowles.

His outburst openly criticizing his team was out of order and the weaving was a little excessive if you go by the rules as was the trying to get out ahead of Vettel in the pit lane; but of course this is only frowned upon because of the BS rule changes; health and safety brigade have ruined F1; motor racing is dangerous; drivers are wrapped up in health and safety endorsed cotton wool these days; man up and go racing is my stance; drivers are too scared to drive aggressively because of the fear of penalty.

Exactly! I wouldn't care if I was a back-marker and I was about to be lapped, I'd still fight the person trying to lap me until the end!

Good point, agree with you about the mid race outbrsts, and I liked the wheel to wheel in the pit lane - would've loved to see Lewis against kimi there, the ice man would've pushed Lewis all the way to the garage.

That's not what I meant; I like the blue flags; nothing worse than having a back marker ruining a good battle...

Lewis is Lewis. He's like a rock star.

Has he been throwing TV's out of hotel room windows and driving Rolls Royce's into pools now? :hehe:

Firstly I am new to the board so hello to everyone :wavey:

Secondly, I am relatively new to Formula in the sense that I have been paying somewhat more and closer attention the last 2 or 3 years.

While some folks I have spoken to find F1 boring, my humble (and noobish) opinion is that it is very exciting for many different reasons...but that is for another post altogether.

I am finding Lewis Hamilton's behavior this year somewhat...unusual due to a few incidences:

A) If memory serves, he complained/criticized the team over his tire change that occurred at an inopportune time.

B) The blocking incident...what was up with that? I understand a driver gets a chance to some degree to hold his position, but he was weaving to prevent being passed.

C) In the most grievous offenses in Shanghai, he was seen attempting to barge into the pit lane ahead of Vettel and was clearly over the white line on the left. Additionally - while Vettel had the clear lead in the pit exit lane after they had both made their tire changes, he rode closely to him straddling the Blue safety line which I found to be extremely egregious for safety reasons.

He gives the impression of someone who is not able to sort of hold it all together mentally due to stress, frustration or other factors. I am frankly surprised he is not being dealt with more harshly after the pit exit lane incident as well, regardless of Mr. Ecclestone's comments. Had he lost grip or had some other factor come into play the potential was there for a tragic series of events.

Again, still new to F1 so I am sure there are factors I am not getting...

Cheers.

A) Erm, so what? he was rightfully frustrated and said something he maybe shouldn't have over the radio. When you're old enough to work you're really going to have your eyes opened.

B) What blocking?

C) Hmmmm, Vettel moved so far to the right they were interlocking wheels so Hamilton could not slow down without going further right into the pit box area. Very dangerous by Vettel considering what can happen when tyres come together.

I think the Schumachers did something like that once

"The team, they made me lose the race, blah blah blah blah blah blahing..."

The guy drives with passion, he's arguably the only guy on the current grid that intimidates all other drivers around him when racing.

Well, your info says you're from California, so there's your problem with the issue of people finding F1 boring. The US loves NASCAR above all other motorsports by far, and NASCAR is basically the polar opposite of F1, so they'll generally hate F1 and have absolutely no interest in it. There's an F1 fan here and there, but they're few and far between, so if you want to talk with people that can appreciate F1 you pretty much have to look beyond our borders.

You're generalizing here, I agree that F1 doesn't have nearly the audience in the states that NASCAR does but that doesn't mean that there is no audience. On the contrary I'd be given the consistent ratings SPEEDtv gets in the states with their broadcasts, given the fact that races are often at 3 am and even when in Europe they're still on off peak EARLY morning hours, given the fact that there are no US drivers or teams, I think the US audience is probably greater than you think.

Granted it's a case of putting the cart before the horse, since I see F1 in a very similar situation to professional cycling. There was an audience but not until a US based team with a US cyclist was winning and being popularized in the general media stateside did the sport take hold.

Cheers,

This statement just goes to prove that anyone can see the flaws in Hamiltons actions regardless of their F1 experience :clap: .

No it just goes to prove some people care more about drivers attutides than there racing ablity.

Who cares? its not like he's going stealing from orphanages and holding up banks.

People critize him for being a PR machine and when he gets a tiny bit frustrated everyone acts like he's just insulted the pope.

Let's face it; the pit lane incident was six of one; half dozen of the other, Vettel and Hamilton are both racers, it's good to see it to be honest instead of the usual stalemate!
