I've long thought Ferrari, when MS was their driver, treated the sport like a chess game, using pit strategy, rather than on track pace and hand to hand combat, to win. I kind of saw them as using this method to seek points at the cost of the spectacle. It's sad for the sport, but hey it's not the teams' responsibility to maintain the spectacle. Ross brawn is the best strategist there is and that's what he thought was the best way to go about it.

Didn't Bernie remind the teams that f1 is in the business of providing exciting racing for fans. I don't think this is true. I think teams always have to view each race as to win within the rules. So it is a team's business to have boring racing in their favour regardless of anything but the rules.

Webber said " I lost the race in the first 500 meters"....Hang on wasn't there 56 laps in Malaysia??? Yes there was but F1 is so boring that the only action is in the pits,YAWN...Before you start yelling at your computer monitor just think about this...In Malaysia exiting turn 1 on lap 1 was Vettel,Webber and Rosberg...And what 3 were on the podium 56 boring laps later??? The same 3...How is that interesting...F1 may as well just be a 1 lap race as it was lost in the first 500 meters anyway wasn't it Mark Webber?????? :yikes:

I think they played more chess off track than on.

Chess is a thinking man/teams game  .

Just so long as your opponent isn't moving pieces when you're not looking.

If said moves are scrutineered by an overseeing judge and deemed within the rules then said move must be approved. I think the game has been cleaned up quite considerably since MM was booted wouldn't you?

It would appear so but I still think JT has a bit to prove although I'm not questioning his intentions.

And the chess thing came up from this:
I've long thought Ferrari, when MS was their driver, treated the sport like a chess game........
and you agree that things weren't always quite so clean.
