Would only work if was like A1GP style, you had 7 uses of it for whole grand prix etc. Not every lap.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Simple facts, they can't have different systems because thats why it failed in the first place. Costs are too high and some teams don't want to use it. They can't use it every lap because then it just becomes neutral. Bringing KERS in, in whatever form is good for the sport, because a green image means F1 is more likely to survive admist our eco-crazy world, even if KERS isn't really green at all. It's also relevant to road cars, which keeps manufactuers happy. Or it would have, but we only Renault Fiat and Mercedes left. But who knows, maybe it'll push Volkswagen into the sport.

It would just need to be a standard system, that works like so many other racing series today. Something like 8 or 12 uses per race. Then I likes

I wouldn't mind seeing KERS come back, but I agree with some of the points above about limiting its use per race, rather than per lap. Actually, I would suggest a combination - maybe a maximum of 8 seconds of boost on any one lap, for a total of 60 seconds per race, or something along those lines.

However, the bigger issue with KERS for me is the problem we had last season. That is, I would want to see it on every car or none at all.

That would be very good. Maybe even 7 uses of it for an entire GP weekend to add abit more interest

A few of you are not seeing how good kers could be... it should be a compulsorily add-on for each car...

KERS, needs to be changed however to be driver operated in terms of its power, if a driver has it to max power it gives them a full speed charge of upto lets say 10 seconds, IF they hold the button for 10 seconds...

They could if they wanted turn it down to lowest and have a speed boost if they held the button... for upto 50 seconds.. (just example numbers).

Lets make a little story to show it would make a difference, like now in 2010 and previous years cars can make up ground, or overtake by taking corners better...

Lets say Alonso goes around a corner and understeers slightly, Hamilton who is right behind takes it perfectly and is in position to potentially overtake there are several things what could happen:
Alonso could use a bit of his boost at max to try and stop an overtake, he could use his whole boost at max or could use it all in a low power setting which if he feels hamilton can't overtake could save more boost.
Hamilton, could either try and overtake without using his KERS or he could try any of the three options Alonso has...

There are so many variables to how this would effect the overtaking.

A driver could use it as; gets close to a car, uses 4/10th's of his boost and the other driver might try to protect his position by using all of his boost, if the driver was to catch back up.. he has another 6/10 of boost left where as the other drivers has none left...

I personally think the idea of shortcuts what was put down as a suggestion was a brilliant idea as for example last week Lewis couldn't pass Kubica for ages, like Michael couldn't pass Algur even tho both drivers were significantly faster than the driver ahead.

I personally would like to see (wont happen) forumla 1 go back to refueling, tire changes (3 sets must be used) and all cars to be identical and have a boost option like kers. This would mean more overtaking, better racing and no one complaining there car just wasn't good enough it would solely show who is the best driver/strategy rather than a money thing (you may disagree but look at the teams with most money invested.. they have generally the best cars.. (Ferrari/McLaren)

Different strokes for different folks  and you do realize that some of us have watched F1 for over 30yrs and have been witness to many changes?

Eff KERS. What we need is Turbos with adjustable boost.
