i always thought this season was going to be rubbish,

i mena look at alonso having to leave over a second to vettel and massa to alonso, i predict a very standard front end of the grid

meh i watched it on record and probably will do a fair bit more

but yeah this is what i think will be the general way of things for now

no kers and no refuelling ive not wanted from the start..

I think that today was a boring race. my mind did start to wonder mid way thru the race, but i expected that from that track. I think Melbourne will be a much more interesting race. I do miss refuelling, but the idea may begin to make more sense as we go to better circuits. From bahrain, the only way is up...i hope

Hopefully becuase it was the first race ,the teams were just playing it safe and not trying anything with the stragety.

The problem is, cars still can't overtake on track and at the moment it looks like the pit-stop overtaking has diminished greatly (which is what they wanted to happen).

If teams thought they could go for a two stop with a fast softer tire run at the end then that'd be good. But I can't see it happening as they'd come out of the second stop either too far behind to make up, or in traffic. Or by the time they get to the car they just won't be able to overtake despite being on the softer tire.

A piece by Whitmarsh on the BBC sees him calling for rule changes this year(next year is too late). If the spectacle is to improve and real racing take place. He talked about mandatory2 stops(to enable some strategy to take place) and he talked about makng the tyres more on the edge..raceier.

Well thank god for the new teams as that's were all the action and overtaking was going on (though still not much). As for the re-fueling ban, bad idea IMO.

If they want to make racing more interesting they need to,

Set a limit on down force levels for all teams, to stop the "dirty air problem"and allow some blooming overtaking.
Give them all a $100million budget cap. (so it's a fair playing field)
Bring back re-fueling
Give all the teams a free (er) reign on the technical side so the intelligent engineers can work there magic and set the feild apart that way to begin with then letting the drivers do the rest.

If all of the above happened then I think F1 would be exciting again.

Although even after saying that, I'm such a hardcore F1 fan I did still enjoy today's race, although I was thinking if my brother was watching this he'd probably be down the pub after 10 minuets.

That was one boring race, how anybody thought the whole field trundling around nursing there tyres was gonna improve the show is beyond me, I was against "no refueling" from the start, aerodynamics don't help either, quite a few cases of people catching somebody up and then dropping back because it was impossible to pass.

Congrates to the new boys too, Not as slow as was feared, 3 sec on a long track, not too shabby.

Won't have the ferrari pit crew running down the pitlane at Singapore to retrieve their fuel hose :(

yeah, might have a 3 wheeled F10 though? :P

AH well, at least heki won't go around setting fire to Ferrari anymore on account of him being too incompetent to drive faster than them - although he might to his best to fly into them.

yep me too

i still think kers should be mandatory and the boost be longer/more hp, its the only way with this new aero that we will get any overtaking once your close

The race was a letdown for me. I really, really want refueling back. It adds another dynamic to the race, and makes races much more strategical. I liked how a driver starting 13th could finish 6th because they were on a long 1 stop strategy. It was always intriguing to see a situation like the following:

1. Jenson Button is in 3rd place, trailing Lewis Hamilton in 2nd by a few seconds.
2. Lewis pits and comes out in 7th.
3. Button pushes and pushes for another few laps after Lewis pits.
4. Button pits.
5. Because of the hard pushing, Button comes out in front of Lewis in 7th place after exiting the pit lane.

We're not going to see something like that anymore, and it's very disappointing.

On a side note, is it possible for the FIA and FOTA to reintroduce refueling mid-season? Maybe if the first few races are a real bore, they'll reintroduce refueling for Barcelona.
