Respect is earnt. Alonso has done nothing to earn my respect.

Wait, you're serious?

...

Ok let me clarify that. Yes I respect his driving, he is one of the best, but his methods and his teamsmanship-nope. Ok maybe like he's said he's 'grown up'-hope so. But from what ive seen of the two Ferrari drivers Massa is by far the more 'grown-up'.

I more or less unsderstand your position... more than not have any respect for him, perhaps some things (you think) he has done has caused you loss of respect. BUT

That's the role the media and like it was mentioned earlier, the saint Lewis and god Mclaren portrait is as much of a farce as Alonso's positions.
One thing that is signifficantly different this time around is that Massa has openly expressed his opinions and understands the role him and Fernando have to play. Also, Massa has been in F1 longer and is obviously more mature than Lewis in his first season. Just like Lewis is now more mature as well.
But in any way, themedia has definitely overhyped the 2 or 3 "battles" Fernando and Massa have had.... c'mon, that's nothing! if their relationship is broken or bound to fail because of them (the fights), then they are idiots.

Alonso is a gifted driver no doubt but he is a "media whore" and why are we not reading/hearing more about the stupendous comeback that Massa has made? Answer IMHO: Ferrari are paying Alonso an enormous sum to try and bring back something that they had not actually lost :irked: . :banghead:

 They undervalue Massa. He was getting on terms with schumi and he was doing better than Kimi. Massa's done great. Hope Ferrari arent stupid enough to stuff him if Alonso whines.

Hm. I think Alonso is being a tad naive about Felipe. Whilst he, Alonso, may be calm-cool-collected and have learnt from 2007...Massa remains something of a loose cannon. He can be a bit of a spoiled brat (Mostly because he basically is one) and he's extremely headstrong. Even as recently as November, Felipe was whinging about Alonso - and has repeatedly called him a cheat. In fact, he did so even after the Ferrari deal was inked.

Trust Felipe at your peril, Mr. Alonso.

Yeah and Massa can be fast!

I think Ferrari overvalue Massa, but then that's just me. Ferrari have never worked very hard to keep their drivers happy, with the exceptions of Schumacher and Massa. They will need to work to keep Alonso happy and if this means doing so to the detriment of Massa, I think they would be wise to.

Yup. They blew it with Kimi but Alonso blew it with McLaren so I think both parties (Alonso & Ferrari) will make this work.

Drivers get paid to drive fantastic cars not to be kept happy, theyre not babies......oh hang on, yes some of them are :dummyspit:
Kimi was not happy at McLaren, then at Ferrari. Alonso was not happy at Renault, then McLaren, then renault. Theres a pattern here, you cant blame the teams. Massa has been loyal and outdriven great team mates, Ferrari would be foolish to 'keep Alonso happy' (and we know what that means) at Massa's expense.

Alonso loved racing for Renault, he always did but you can't be happy though if your racing better than everyone else on the grid and only scoring 1 or 2 points here and there.
