Mclaren-British with two British drivers.
Mercedes- German with two German drivers.
Ferrari -Italian with two Italian speaking Latin drivers.

I know F1 isn't about Nationalities but this does add an extra dimension to 2010.

Bit random on the ferrari bit on the grounds the first languages of Alonso and Massa are spanish and portuguese. :hehe:

Anna didn't say that the Ferrari driver's first languages are Italian. she said they are both Italian speakers. Which is true as both speak Italian fluently.

If you can manage to hear over the English commintator, you will hear both Alonso and Massa argue with one another in Italian. Btw I wonder why Massa chose to approach Alonso by speaking Italian and not Spanish? Although Brazilians speak Portuguese, I thought the majority know Spanish as well?

I know she did but its still a bit random.End of the day there is a german team, there is a british team then there is a italian team with spanish and brazilian drivers.Doesn't get much more widespread than that.. :D

I guess so, but if you want to get technical then one could say that the Mercedes GP team is really British since it is still the same old team based in Brackley, United Kingdom, but instead of having an English racing super licence like they did when it was Brawn GP, they now have a German one which automatically makes them German, although based in the UK. :D

Dunno about motorsports at large, but we do kick major bottom at Formula One. Only the Italians come close.

We (they?) don't  Portuguese and Spanish are similar languages, so it's easy for a Portuguese/Brazilian to understand enough Spanish, and for a Spanish speaker to understand enough Portuguese. When I chat with a Spanish person, I'm talking in Portuguese and they're talking in Spanish, or sometimes we'll both speak English xD

A bit random I grant you, but not entirely. My point is that since Schumacher , Todt, Brawn etc, Ferrari now have Italians in key roles within the team. And they have two Latin drivers who speak perfect Italian and can converse with the team on all levels. To me that makes Ferrari far more Italian than it has been in recent years.

1. McLaren - Team Britain (2 British drivers and 1 British test driver)
2. Mercedes - Team Germany (2 German drivers and 1 German Test driver)
3. Ferrari - Team Italy (Ferrari = Italy, nothing more needs to be said even tho I will. 2 Full Time drivers who speak the language, 2 Test drivers who are Italian too)
4. Lotus - Team Maylasian (Maylasian owned and has support from the government, has a Maylasian Test driver)
5. USF1 - Team USA (American owned and run. Could have a US driver too)
6. Force India - Team India (The name says it all, they had an Indian test driver a few years ago too)
7. Renault - Team France (During there time in the 70's/8-'s they had heaps of wins and podiums from French drivers. Infact for most of those years all their drivers were French and Reanult basically means France)
8. Red Bull - Team Australia/Australasia (Webber is an Aussie, and now they have a Aussie test a driver and a New Zealand test driver)

Other teams you could include
9. Campos - Team Spain (The only team run out of spain. Looked like having an all Spainish line-up at one stage too).

At least we come close. LOL So I guess I will agree with that. Britain the most successful in F1 and Italy second. :)

Not sure how understanding a Portuguese speaking person would be like as I am yet to experience it. I speak Italian and Spanish out of the Latin languages, however I take your word for it. So in this case if I meet a person from Portugal or Brazil, I should be able to speak to them in Spanish and they back to me in Portuguese and we should be able to converse? In that case I could use Italian as well since it is very similar to Spanish and in theory the same concept should work I guess. By the way you said you talk Portuguse to a Spanish speaking person. Where are you from? :wavey:
