Anyone seen this?

http://www.castroldriverrankings.com/rankings/

Indy Car Drivers..ahead of F1 drivers...hmm so are they saying if LH, MW or Alonso went to Indy car then Dario Franchetti, Scott Dixson and Jimmy Johnson would beat them.

No, that's not what they are saying.

The rankings are based on scores calculated by some obscure method. It's not really a measure of talent but more like who scored the most points, had the best finishes, pole positions, etc. and it's also based on their qualifying positions, whether or not they led races and for how long, the number of positions that they made up during the race. Obviously, there are a lot more laps in IRL/NASCAR and it's possible to make up a lot more places during a race, so of course they would feature quite highly in the list.

Yeh i read it it says its on Series weight, so there saying Nascar and IRL are equal to F1 thats stupid.

The quality of GP2 drivers is higher than IRL and NASCAR.

Again, that's not quite it. In Formula One, a the car is as big a factor as the driver - Lewis didn't win the championship in this year's car, but we know he's one of the best drivers on the grid. In IRL, NASCAR etc. car performance is closer (most of the time, only setup makes a difference) and there are a lot more people on a similar level to one another, so it's a far more competitive environment in terms of that, meaning it is harder (usually) for someone to win nearly every race in a season, like Schumacher in 2002 and 2004. So, they're not necessarily using it as a way of saying the champion in F1 has the same talent as the champion in NASCAR, but that in F1 if you have a really good car, you only need a few grains of talent to win a championship. See: Jacques Villeneuve.

I love playing with your mind. Although what I say has some truth I was actually joking around with you. :D

Theres bad drivers of every race and nationality within Australia, even ITalians to suggest they are all good drivers just because of their DNA is just utter BS! aside this castrol ranking is based on RACING series not civilian drivers.

I was stirring you and you took the bait as usual. Now going to racing. Castrol is British and to no surprise the Brits are ranked first. No problems, if I were Castrol I would do exactly that. Now if AGIP were to make a similar ranking I bet Italy would be first as well. These type of rankings are all rubbish. And the truth is as well you only really need one champion driver. The current best driver in the world is the Spaniard Fernando Alonso. A few years back and for a while it was the German Michael Schumacher. Thus in the last 10m years neither number one was either Italian, Australian or even British.

Incorrect. The last two F1 world champions have been British as have the teams they drove for.

Nope. There were 21 points between the two at the end of the season. You can't blame that on Spa.

Ok Ferrari won the constructors ,as I said point taken. But that wasnt the point I was making. I said the champions were British as were their teams. Regardless of who won the constructors that fact stands.

But if you want to argue constructors that wasnt the only time McLaren got cheated of points.

If we're talking about the teams, its surely best to use the constructors championship over the drivers?

We arent, we're talking about the drivers. I just happened to mention that the last two F1 world champions were Britishe and also drove for Britishe teams.

6 points at Spa, 1 point at Fuji... Doesn't add up to 21 :P

the bit in bold (I'm not griping about the spelling errors), your trying to rank british teams as good becuase the last two world champions drove for them (undoubtly that shows a very high level of skill from the team), but really the teams themselves are decided by the constructors - so thats a better way of doing it rather than lumping the drivers champion with the champions team.

The 2008 Champion should of been Massa since Renault cheated in Singapore and caused a big scenario in that race. Had they not of cheated the events that happened would of been different. Ferrari for example who were leading quite comfortabily would most likely not of made that pit error where Massa took the fuel hose with him. All this happen because Renault had cheated. As a result Ferrari scored no points and Hamilton scored a few. By right that race should of been annulled from the points meaning Massa would be World Champion of 2008. I know it was discovered around 1 year later that Renault had cheated and I know had they discovered it right away and had annulled the race that the outcome off all the other races in 2008 may of been different, but it wasn't and fact remains that Renault did cheat, that result was heavily effected, that race should be annulled from the 2008 points, and when it is annulled Felipe Massa would be World Champion, the true World Champion of 2008.

As for Button. The 2009 rules were a big change and Brawn GP happened to get ot right over the big teams such as Ferrari and McLaren. Button only got lucky as he won most of his races at the start of the year when Brawn (Not Button) got it right and everyone else got it wrong. Someone like Robert Kubica could of been driving Button's Brawn GP car, and they would of been the current World Champion.

Whats that driver nation rank based on? Sounds like a lot of rubbish. Italy 9th, Croatia 55th and Slovenia 66th. I am even amazed it showed Croatia and Slovenia along with a few other small countries. And Australia 2nd? Yeah right. In general Australians drive badly. A lot of them, (Not all, probally the Aussies of Italian and the like backgrounds are generally ok at this) but you get a lot that sit on a motorway/expressway/freeway on the right lane and going slow or doing the speed limit and not passing anyone. (Australians drive on the left so the left is the slow or normal lane and the right is the fast lane, in mainland Europe it is the reverse but same concept should apply). Anyway this is very bad. I have driven on their roads. Many times I would be doing even a slow 120 km/h and some idiot would be in the right lane doing 100 km/h and not actually passing anyone. And I then would flash my high beam at them and instead of moving over like they do in Europe, they sit there and do so on purpose even sometimes pressing their brakes. What idiots and bad drivers................................ In a nice little small European country called Slovenia for example, people do not drive like this at all but in fact stay out of the fast lane if not going fast or overtaking. So already Slovenians are better drivers than Australians. And if you want to put Italians in the equation, there really isn't any comparisons as Italians are the best in the world along with the Germans.
