Soucek!!! Don't make me laugh :hehe:

Fastest time of the day in a car that's not the best, yeah, hilariously poor showing. :-|

Probably just running a lighter fuel load, something Williams has done a lot of this year. I think the specs of all the cars are different as well. Not sure if they're all running the same cars that came to the last race.

Seriously though, Soucek is nothing special. He was okay in WSR. Poor in Gp2 despite driving for a good team. He only won Formula 2 because the feild wasn't competitive in slightest. It was full of extremely young drivers coming from things like Formula Palmer Audi.

Like I didn't see that coming :hehe: Kobayshi was really a revelation, but in fact he had proven he was quick before. He'd come 4th in F3 euroseries, and euroseries is ultra competitive. There's at least 4 drivers who will end up in F1 every year. Not only that, Kobayshi did win the GP2 asia crown and beat a host of drivers who finished ahead of him in the main series.

Who knows why, but Kobayshi's speed just didn't translate into GP2. DAMS isn't exactly one of the best teams in GP2, or maybe it was just the car as whole, not what the team where able to do with. But it does question my faith GP2 being reputable feeder series for F1. Nevertheless, Kobayashi's best drive was 3rd from 9th at Germany in the pouring rain. As they say, the rain sorts the men from the boys, and Kobayashi was damn fast that day.

But Soucek. I'd bet my hat there's no F1 potenial there.

I like his whole demeanour, how doesn't get stressed and just chills and enjoys what he's doing. Could be a breath of fresh air for F1.

He won WSR this year (thus the test prize with Renault), but it's the first time he's ever even won a single seater title. Actually, it's the first time he's finished in the top 3 in any single seater category. It was also his 3rd year doing WSR, so it was a bit like Pantano winning the GP2 crown. I really don't think F1 teams will take notice of him. So why Sauber are also giving him a test, I haven't a clue.
