But Honda at the time had the same sort of respect as Toyota do now. Brawn however is a Multi Championship winning team.

Sure, but Merc has their own skilled people and all - plus Ross was already there and he commands enough respect to boot.

Ross the Boss bought Honda for £1 and then sold it 3/4 of it 10 months later for rumoured £30 million. I am sure your bank manager might help you out with a business plan like that.

If you think in those terms, how stupid was it for Mercedes to wait a year and see the price go up rather than buying the Honda team for a buck when it was on sale? :P

Would of been a big risk tho, and Honda wouldn't of helped by giving 100 mil they did to Ross. If merc did buy the team i expect they would of just taken the BGP001 sacked Hekki and Rubens and re badged it the MP4-24.

Or made a 'b' team with Hekki and Rubens.

Assuming McLaren would have allowed the deal to go through, which seems unlikely.

I think Mercedes are only buying this team because McLaren wouldn't let them buy further into the F1 team, if you get me.

Great news for Sauber, I am glad they decided to wind their necks back in eventually and sell to Peter like they should have done so in the first place.

Hopefully this will now mean the FIA can allow Sauber a place on the grid now Quackback are out of the picture.

I'd be completely astonished if they didn't, given the Renault situation. Any bets on potential drivers then people? Heidfeld is the obvious candidate, but there's not really much choice for a second driver... Kobayashi? That would be pretty good actually!

Yeah, I thought exactly that, Heidfeld & Kobayashi. Peter Sauber is usually first in for the newbie rising talent (when Eddie Jordan wasn't) so I think he'll grab him... whether Mercedes sign Heidfeld or not that is the issue, im sure Heidfeld will want a car that can win... but also at the same time will want to stay true to Sauber

That's great news, although Sauber never had a great deal of success, I admire the man for what he did for F1 and it'll be great to have him back! :)

I think he's a respectable team boss, nice and honest unlike some others. I admire Ross for his genius and all, but I have a soft spot for Peter.
