To cut a long story short; a lot of Irishmen/women died because they couldn't eat the potatoes that local people relied on for sustenance because the potatoes carried disease. That's my understanding from my history lessons back in the late 80s. My memory is a little hazy so my recollection could be a little wayward.

Either way...I wasn't expecting it to be funny after some explanation. :D

Kinda poor taste joke really... I didn't find it funny either and I understood straight away...

As they say; "a joke isn't funny if you need it explained to you" :P



Yeah...the problem is about the explained joke.
I don't have any problem with black humour though, actually, I really like it :P

Yeah, i agree about the Simpsons, although there are good episodes up to about season 12 i think... they've let it go on too long now, but back in the day it was the best!

I don't see why this thread can't stay open, the other one is more specific to jokes rather than anything funny. :)
