If nudity was allowed constantly there would be no such thing as pornography.

I think this is actually quite wrong. Pornography is sexual, and everyday nudity would not be. To make a statement like that makes the mistaken, in my opinion, assumption that nudity is inherently sexual.

Well I don't really watch pornography, and I don't seem to find FULL nudity as much of a turn on.

For instance if you showed me a clip of Kylie stripping totally naked, and then showed me a clip of her stripping to her underwear, the latter would turn me on more.

Mhm, that is a big part of the problem. I think it would take a reasonably long period of exposure to everyday nudity to change peoples' perceptions, though.

i don't know where you live Ferrarifan but its bloody cold in Manchester, so i kinda like wearing clothes.

 Agreed, case closed... :hehe:

Although technically that is a reason not to be nude rather than a reason for nudity being wrong. :P

I could go onto google images and actually show you lot why nudity is wrong at times but i may get banned!

edit: this is the sole reason as to why nudity should be considered inappropriate:

Its like swearing.
Swear words are words.
Who made them swear words?
Why are they?
Why are they bad?
They all mean something.
Like normal words.

In our ach so inhibited world it sadly is most of the time.

But that's part of what I'm arguing is wrong. There isn't an inherent connection between nudity and sexuality, it's a social construct. Created by our "ach so inhibited world". Or, mass stupidity as I would describe it.

And I'm sure that even Manchester is warm enough for nudity in the summer. But the "problem" is not people choosing to wear clothes, but being forced to wear clothes.

It gets quite chilly up here too.

I'm a bit more conservative than your average young lady (at least the way they dress nowadays), I have no idea why, I just always have been

At that moment, their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they strung fig leaves together around their hips to cover themselves.
Toward evening they heard the Lord God walking about in the garden, so they hid themselves among the trees.
The Lord God called to Adam, "Where are you?"
He replied, "I heard you, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked."

...No, I'm not a religious person, I just felt that that passage was appropriate given the topic title

I disagree. My first "exposure" to public nudity was attending late 70s open air music festivals in my early teens. It took about three days before it seemed completely natural and unexceptional.

No need to convince me, I'm not exactly a huge fan of organized religions either.

But giving people the freedom to dress (or undress) how they want, where they want, would give people equal freedom to be clothed or unclothed. So a personal preference for being clothed should not, in my opinion, lead to a personal preference for nudity being illegal or otherwise legally discouraged.

So what your really asking is, why is nudity illegal - which the answer is some people find it offensive.
