I read that Vermeulen wants to switch to SBK

Probably because most of the big teams turned him down in Moto Gp... even though he offered to ride for free for some teams!

Bummer. He seems to be a decent guy.

He's not a bad rider at all. It's a shame.

What so far on this championship?

Also. When is the next race???

Spies (Yamaha) has staged an amazing comeback and now leads Haga (Ducati)by two points.
Brilliant series and quite possibly a better season than what Moto Gp has had.

Next race is at Imola. Practice in 7 days.

Its not 2 points
Its nearly 30 i think :woohoo:

but this season has had major climax's. I watched the Spannish round as i missed it, oh my gosh. I was ranting and raving! He slipped through and dominated, was a shame for his rookie error in R2. But i'm hoping we have no more fau' pas like that again.

yup I realised that too the other day.

I read the standings wrong.

well I'd give it to Spies atm. He is riding brilliantly. But never count Haga out. The Ten Kate Honda's may also be a factor.

The R1 may have realiabillity problems. Which has shown as a major weak spot for the Yamaha :banghead:

Then again Nitro could win one and i hope Ben takes second in first race and wins the other, he's far too strong at the moment!

It's going to be an awesome battle :)

Ben For The Win

He's a not too bad rider. Shame really
I think he could give Ben & Nitro a run for there money. I bet he would switch to a BMW or Honda.

Simoncelli To SBK for Aprillia at Imola!!

Aprilia Racing have announced that they will be coming to the Imola WSB round with reigning 250 cc World Champion and Metis Gilera Team rider Marco Simoncelli lining up alongside Max Biaggi on the RSV4 usually ridden by Shinya Nakano. The Japanese rider is still out of action with the neck muscle problems that prevented him from taking part in race 2 in Germany.

Marco has been preparing for his Imola WSB debut with two days of testing at Mugello yesterday and today, where he lapped with a best time of 1 minute 53.55 seconds, completing 91 laps.

"I am very satisfied with this test," he said. "I was quite quick and together with the bike managed to improve a lot. We worked to find the right base setting for Imola, where it will be important to find a good set-up as quick as possible, which will make things much easier. I'd like to thank Aprilia for this great opportunity, I will be making my debut in a category and on a track that are completely unknown to me, the level of our rivals is very high and it won't be at all easy to obtain a good result".

Simoncelli should have been DQ'd. I bought Eurosport so I could watch it. Ben had a bad race :( really wanted him to get even one second place. I think the first little hit didn't the R1 any good  But I'm hopeful next weekend at Magny :)

Yamaha has confirmed that Ben Spies, currently 2nd in the World Superbike Championship, will be moving to the MotoGP Championship in 2010 to join the Tech 3 Yamaha Team. The Texan recently signed a two-year deal with Yamaha, which originally planned for him to remain in World Superbike for one more year before moving to MotoGP in 2011, but Spies and Yamaha together have decided to advance the move by one year. The 25-year-old is currently just three points behind and has just two more World Superbike rounds to contest in his efforts to win his and Yamaha's first World Superbike title.

"I want to thank Yamaha globally for their faith in me," said Spies. "They have treated me like royalty! Yamaha just recently allowed me to rethink my contract for 2010-2011; I did sign for WSB for 2010 but after Indy I began thinking of the competition and my age versus waiting until 2011. This was not an easy decision, the Yamaha World Superbike Team crew and especially Massimo (Maio) Meregalli have been fantastic and it's been great fun to put in a season together. I am hoping that I can give Maio, Laurens Klein Koerkamp and everyone else a championship to remember this year with me. My thanks also extend to ‘Infront', the promoter of the WSB series, especially Paolo Ciabatti. I have enjoyed his series and this first year racing in Europe. Now I have two challenges, to complete this year giving my best and to move towards new goals in MotoGP. Herve Poncharal at Tech 3 is showing his support by allowing me to come on board with my Crew Chief Tom Houseworth and Gregory Wood, my mechanic, who have both been with me since AMA days. We will have learning curves to overcome next year but I am up for the new goal. I hope to have a good year and my goal is to try and stay in the top 6-8 which, given the talented line up, will be a tall order. With the world upside down, there is one constant for me and that's Yamaha".

Not a bad race. Spies rerally proved his worth on the first race. But i really don't have a clue what happened 2nd race. But i guess there must be an explanation.

I'm not too sure to be honest. Bens bike is inconcistant. Not him, himself. But Haga does seem to have problems with himself. So i think he really could have problems, plus Ducati have got to have mechanical problems 1 way or another!

Oh please. Even if he won Spies would of won it, it was his first race crash. Ben kept it cool and won by pure 'Champion' style.
