Opens the door for Nico Rosberg at Brawn, a German Driver with a Mercedes sponsored team.

Or maybe it is the other way round, ie that Rosberg has already signed with Brawn, which gave Mercedes a good reason to make the buy in. I doubt it myself (i really think he's off to McLaren), but no harm throwing the possibility out there, anything goes in the silly season. :hehe:

You little devil you

Ross will be sacked or demoted as team principle to technical director, the team will be Renamed Mercades Formula One they will loose the luminous colour scheme and Norbert Haug will become team principle.

Is my prediction.

If Mercedes but into Brawn but continue their partnership with McLaren, someday one of the other of the two will have to give way, I can't see Mercedes being able to both run Brawn AND run their partnership with McLaren.

If McLaren end up being ditched, maybe they should take a leaf out of Williams' book and either go knock on Honda's door or Osejh could bring back TAG power. :P

It seems to me that if MB buys into Brawn, supplies McLaren, Force India, Red Bull and possibly Williams and perhaps some of the new teams as well as being a partner with McLaren this is fast becoming a Mercedes Benz racing series in which it competes with itself.
With this level of presence, MB gets access to a lot of information that will not come to the remaining members of the grid and hence it could be come a very boring form of racing. If an example of this is required just look at the IRL.
One engine+one chassis= very boring racing.
If the FIA does not step in, F1 will lose its appeal and will no longer be the so called pinnacle of motor sport. It has already lost credibility over the scandals with one to come. Continuing to dilute the gene pool of F1 is a road to disaster!

Excellent first post!!

This seem's to be an attempt toward's a monopoly of F1 by Mclaren/Mercedes, I could be wrong but I don't like it one bit.

Just to clear up the "Merc domination" worries, remember that engine suppliers can only supply three teams, so that's Mclaren, Brawn and force India, not the entire grid.

As for the Brawn buy in, IMO as a Brawn fan, it's really good news. It gives the team some much needed stability. And for those thinking Mercedes will take the team over completely I don't think Brawn would allow that to happen whilst he is still there.

Personally, I'd love to see a Mercedes works team back on the grid!

Yes that would be nice but that is not the concern yet Mercedes commitment to F1 should be applauded.

*cough*cosworth

Cosworth are only supplying 3 teams are they not?

"Cosworth, the world's leading performance technology specialist, has agreed relationships with 3 teams whose entries to the 2010 Formula One World Championship have been accepted by the FIA."

Campos Grand Prix, Manor Grand Prix and Team US F1
