i rekn a team wanting to enter the sport should buy the teams infrastructure. only catch is said team would have to be based in Switzerland and not the UK. so that leaves some names out.

I hope Peter Sauber can come to the rescue with FOTAs help.

Indeed, it would be sad to see the Sauber name leave. I think Peter Sauber had a 20% share in the team when BMW took it over, so I think the call on the team entity's future may lie in his hands.

Sauber is a respected name in motorsport and has some Formula One pedigree, so them making a full comeback is probably the best thing. A close second would be for Prodrive or Lola to come into the sport.

Regardless of whichever team makes it to the grid in place of BMW (assuming one does), I hope they don't use Mercedes engines.

Sauber could over take team but then, red Bull are no longer the main sponsor for them so really they are chucked. Maybe Monster energy could get in on the season or a major energy drink company but otherwise they will struggle for sponsors as Brawn would be the best bet for sponsors.

Sauber not about to retake team ownership
Peter Sauber on Wednesday played down hopes he might simply step back in and resume leadership of his Swiss-based Formula One team.

The 65-year-old, who sold his Hinwil-based outfit to BMW at the end of 2005, said he fears the Munich manufacturer's withdrawal from Formula One could mean the closure of the team.

"I respect and accept the decision but am still finding it hard to digest," Sauber, who retains a 20 percent shareholding of the team he founded in 1993, told the German news agency DPA.



It has been suggested that Sauber could now step back in and resume running the outfit as a privateer, but the Swiss played down that prospect.

"The position we are in now makes it very difficult," he said without elaborating.

VW could srep in, as could Porsche - both want to join F1 but refuse until Max has left - hes leaving pretty soon so its a definate possibility

Yeah: Prodrive, or Lola, is the only way to go. For Formula One to be taken seriously, it has to have as many credible teams as possible.

Should have been the way to go on initial selection. I guess it comes down to who gives Max the biggest back-hander or how many more friends Mosely has who are aspiring to be F1 team owners.
