I don't understand how BMW have gone from championship contender to back marker so quickly

BMW is known for being too systematic, if you go from A then you get to B, they want to be too precise, skip B and go straight to C.

I think BMW will be back next season, they need those "magic" parts Alonso was on about at Silverstone. :hehe:

I think BMW rely on Albert too much instead of the brain of desigers like Adrian Newey, Sam Michael, Patrick Head and Pat Symonds.

If BMW want to keep using Albert, maybe they'd be better of getting Uncle Albert to design the 2010 car.

Makes sense i guess. BMW have always been a slightly non-committal company, partly because they are still influenced by the whim of a slightly batty member of the Bavarian gentry.
I'd be sad to see a proper sports car company pull out and their drivers deserve better than this really but BMW did do some irritating stuff like lobbying the FIA to legalise KERS and (unsuccessfully thank god!) stability control systems.

Autosport says BMW will announce tomorrow that they're pulling out of F1 effective at the end of this season.

That would not be good at all. Were BMW not only recently trying to get Red Bull to switch over to their engines for next season? I hope they don't pull out of F1.

Sorry mate :)

That post looked a bit tragic with all the BMW stuff around it. There's gonna be a few irate people on here tomorrow...

Wow! This is quite a shock, but at the end of the day not at all surprising considering the current car market, Honda pulling out last year and BMW's current performance. :(

Hope somebody buys them out and the name Sauber can survive as an independent constructor.

what other reason could they have for organising a press conference with all the big wigs?
