I get the feeling everyone seems to assume Senna is going to be awesome, that he is somehow going to be on the pace and putting on a show from the word go. I hope hes good enough to hold a seat in F1 so he can learn the ropes.

Chances are if he got a Toro Rosso seat which I doubt he "might" score some points before the season is over.

I think there will be extra pressure through the name. Sad in one way, a blessing in another, but he did do good in GP2

That would be very interesting to see, but it seems the most recent rumours are suggesting Jaime Alguersuari, no?

If Senna was to get the drive and then beat Buemi over the 2nd half of the season, he would be in a strong position for 2010.

Watching practice this morning the SPEED team said that Bourdais's wife mentioned in an interview that Germany will be his last race with the team.

If Senna does replace Bourdais I won't be expecting him to be on the pace immediately, even Ayrton took some time in his Toleman durng 1984 to show what he could do (he even DNQ'd at Imola). All Senna should aim to do is beat Buemi.

I'll admit that Bourdais isn't lighting em up, but he has scored points and STR has a myriad of issues going on. Their budget is 1/2 of Red Bull's, They've been using high mileage engines during Friday testing, making their setups invalid with a strong engine, and they're always 1+ months behind Red Bull on their updates, thus 2 races behind the rest of the field's development too. You aren't going to compete with all that baggage, and that's just the stuff we know about. Who knows what else is going on behind the scenes.

Bourdais should keep his seat for the season IMO. If he gets the axe, I would assume he could get a ride with one of the new teams. Thing is, now that the Cosworth is confirmed to run at 18k, even the lowly STR will be fast compared to them.

No one has actually said that though, you're just stringing together things different people have said so no wonder it doesn't make sense...

I think you missed the overall reason why we are suggesting Senna. I don't think Senna would produce straight away as he has no experience yet. If he had got the same amount of time in the car that Bourdais has had since he started F1 in 2008 we believe that he would be doing a much better job than Bourdais has done. Thus it seems logical for Toro Rosso to stop wasting their time with Bourdais and instead invest it into Senna.

Fresh doubts over Bourdais' future

Scuderia Toro Rosso has refused to deny mounting speculation that Sebastien Bourdais is facing the axe from the team after this weekend's German Grand Prix.

The Frenchman has endured a disappointing campaign, having not made the step forward that the team had been hoping for from a second-year driver.

And unless there is a dramatic turnaround in his fortunes at the Nurburgring this weekend, it is understood that the team will move to replace him for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

It is believed that favourite to land the seat alongside Sebastien Buemi is newly promoted reserve driver Jaime Alguersuari - even though he has very limited Formula 1 experience.

Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost would not be drawn on the questions about Bourdais' future, or if Alguersuari was in contention to step up to a race seat.

"We do not comment on rumours that are started in the media," said Tost, in a comment that falls short of being a denial.

Although British Formula 3 champion Alguersuari does not have much F1 experience, the opportunity of stepping up to a race seat now would at least give him the chance to learn ahead of a full campaign in 2010. The in-season testing ban currently in place gives no other opportunity for young drivers to test, so the only way to get mileage is actually on grand prix weekends.

Bourdais himself has denied any knowledge of his drive being under threat, despite the speculation that emerged in the French press earlier this week.

"This rumour has been around since the middle of last season," Bourdais told AUTOSPORT. "What can I say? I haven't received any notice from the team that this is my last race so as far as I am concerned it is still a rumour.

"I've got a job to do and that's what I've got to concentrate on. I can't control what people say or where it is coming from. It's very unfortunate but there's nothing we can do about it. Someone puts it out and now it is all over the place."

Bourdais is not the only driver who could be replaced for Hungary, with sources suggesting that Renault will likely move to replace Nelson Piquet for the Budapest race as well.

The Brazilian has failed to score a single point so far this year and should he be dropped then favourite to stand in alongside Fernando Alonso is reserve driver and GP2 Series leader Romain Grosjean.

I personaly dont think they should drop Seabass atleast not mid-season. We all know he is a great driver but I like everyone else just cant figure out why he is underperforming and making stupid moves like he did at Silverstone, .
