Well what about Majority vote? cant say no to democracy can ya? its way better than a dictatorship which Max led.

Democracy is very relative term. Yes, of course it's better then dictatorship, but believe me, we have democratic system here in Croatia, and it doesn't work well at all. :nono: I'm kidding.

Yes, that would be a good way to introduce new regulations.

Just follow MotoGp's example and any major change that gets put forward has to be unanimously voted through by every constructor.

Nothing is ever likely to change if that's the case; it's rare that every F1 team agrees on something, there is always constant challenges to this, that and the other!

A majority vote would work well; which is what I was suggesting a few posts back; 15 votes; FIA president; commercial rights holder and the 13 team principles, each vote has equal weight. That would be workable if the FIA is willing to change but I have serious doubts about the FIAs ability to change!

Press Release
World Motor Sport Council
24/06/2009

The World Motor Sport Council met in Paris on 24 June 2009. The following decisions were taken:

FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

All currently competing teams have committed to the FIA Formula One World Championship.

There will be no alternative series or championship and the rules for 2010 onwards will be the 2009 regulations as well as further regulations agreed prior to 29 April 2009.

As part of this agreement, the teams will, within two years, reduce the costs of competing in the championship to the level of the early 1990s. The manufacturer teams have agreed to assist the new entries for 2010 by providing technical assistance.

The manufacturer teams have further agreed to the permanent and continuing role of the FIA as the sport’s governing body. They have also committed to the commercial arrangements for the FIA Formula One World Championship until 2012 and have agreed to renegotiate and extend this contract before the end of that period.

All teams will adhere to an upgraded version of the governance provisions of the 1998 Concorde Agreement.

WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

The date for introduction of the 1600cc turbo engine for the WRC car has been brought forward to 2011 to bring it in line with the engine used in the cars on sale to the public.

Event organisers will be given flexibility to evolve the character of their events to create a unique flavour. Rallies may be run over two, three or four days, but must finish on a Saturday or Sunday. To increase the spectacle, there will be freedom to mix asphalt and gravel surfaces either within a stage or within the itinerary of a day.

A ‘WRC Cup’ for Super 2000 cars will be introduced for 2010. Teams must register and contest at least seven nominated rounds, including at least one outside Europe. Conditions for registration will be finalised in due course.

The FIA GT1 World Championship will be for independent teams and professional drivers, the FIA GT2 European Championship for independent teams and pro-am driver crews, and the FIA GT3 European Championship for independent teams and non-professional drivers.

The Bucharest event, scheduled for 8-9 August 2009, has been replaced with an event in Budapest event on 29-30 August 2009.

KARTING

The CIK-FIA will launch a new karting world championship, aimed at young drivers under 18 years old. The new series will compliment the current CIK-FIA Karting World Championship, which is open to all age groups.

Set to launch in 2010, the new championship will involve three events scheduled to take place in the summer months, when under-18s will be available to compete. The concept will be backed up by the creation of a Karting Academy for drivers aged 13 to 15 years old.

Di Montzemelo hails Mosley contribution

By Edd Straw Wednesday, June 24th 2009, 14:39 GMT

Luca di MontezemoloFormula 1 Teams' Association chairman Luca di Montezemolo has taken a conciliatory line after an agreement with the FIA averted the threat of a breakaway series, paying tribute to Max Mosley's contribution.

"He has done a very good fix of the problem," said di Montezemolo. "When you have reached an agreement, everyone has to help in the same way."

The 61-year-old Ferrari president also called for the sport to put politics behind it and to focus on the reconciliation between the FIA and FOTA as a chance to improve F1.

"Polemics is not good for F1 and particularly for the public because F1 is a fantastic sport that has to be relaunched, not only protected," he said.

Mosley said that he did not consider the agreement to be a defeat for him, underlining that he has managed to fulfill his objectives of drawing in new teams and cutting costs.

"They've got the rules they want and the stability; we've got the new teams in and the cost reduction," said Mosley. "So that's very helpful."

Mosley added that he fully expected not to continue as FIA president beyond the end of his current term. He confirmed today that he would not be seeking re-election in October as part of the deal to prevent the breakaway series.

"As far as I'm concerned, the teams were always going to get rid of me in October," said Mosley. "Well they still are. Whether the person who succeeds me will be more to their liking remains to be seen."

The limited time period, only up to 2012, is a clear indication that the teams don't trust Mosley to keep his word about standing down. As if he doesn't, they can force the issue again soon. I'm sure there will be other informal understandings that the FIA has to keep to or the teams will threaten a breakaway in 2012. I'm confident that we will see more things happen that are team friendly.

So who will be Mosley's annointed successor? Could it be Nazir Hoosein?

That could be a wise choice. However his stewardship has damaged the WRC over the past few years. It really is tricky. Maybe someone unknown and unlinked to the Mosley dynasty?

Todt?

Possible. It would be very popular with the teams. Perhaps a person such as Todt or even Dennis taking over was part of the agreement that brought FOTA back. But this is Mosley we're talking about, and I don't believe that he'll just leave, he'll try to get his own person in there. Looking at Hoosein's history:

In 1993, Hoosein was elected to the World Motor Sport Council however in 1999 the FMSCI decided that it no longer wanted Hoosein to be their representative to the FIA. This led to Hoosein forming the Motorsports Association of India (MAI) in opposition to the FMSCI. Hoosein is an ally of FIA President Max Mosley, and assisted Mosley in gaining votes from the Asian members of the FIA throughout the 1990s. The FIA decided in 2000 that MAI should be recognised as motor sport's governing body in India. However the Indian government refused to recongise the MAI, which meant that Hoosein was unable to represent India at the FIA. A deal was completed allowing Hoosein to be a member of the World Motor Sport Council representing People's Republic of China[5].

he's a person very muh in the mold of Mosley.

I'm not suggesting that Hoosein is a wise choice, quite the opposite. I'm suggesting that Hoosein is the kind of person that Mosley may anoint as his successor.

Thing is we'll probably be presented with someone like that, so maybe the best of a bad bunch.

Unless the teams weren't prepared to return to the fold without certain concessions that we haven't heard about yet.
