does no one else find this remotely fishy?

when they wwere going on about cost cutting and budget caps they still pushed through the kers, dangling a big carrot by saying next year the alowable re usable energy per lap would double and again a year later.

to me that would mean anyone not developing it would be left far behind but it was left optional and some teams have made nothing at all of it but the teams that have, ferrari, mclaren, bmw, renault have been totally screwed over by the whole thing now it's been dropped. for this year and next.

I am surprised, I would of though with no refuelling next year that unlimited KERS would be good for saving fuel which in turn would mean less weight, which would mean a faster car. Maybe they should limit the amount of fuel and un limit KERS

But the smaller teams would probably stand no chance in such a development race.

development of KERS stands no chance in a budget capped F1. s*** most teams spent more than 47Mil Euro to develop the KERS they have now didnt they?

Unless of course the FIA supply a standard KERS unit (probably based on the McLaren unit) to all the teams on the grid and make it compulsory to use it in their designs!

isn't that the point of the budget cap? it is not how much money you throw at it, it is the IQ you use

Good call.
KERS is annoying because if you try and over take someone with it they just use it to defend.
I know. I have had the experience.

Now, does anyone know if KERS has been banned outright or just no longer compulsory? Teams should be allowed to continue running it if they so choose, it makes things a bit more interesting when some cars have significant differences to others...

For the rest of the season, I guess it is allowed if the teams want, but from next season I presume it is outright banned.

Yup, i assume the same, just wondering if anyone had heard for sure.

I actually thought KERS was going to be compulsory next year

Anyways, as far as I know the teams have decided to forward to idea of banning KERS to the FIA, and even if they say no. None of the teams will use it. So either way, KERS is gone. :D Thank goodness

Nah its banned to keep costs down. Down. Down. Down low.

I dont think it is banned. I think the FIA would still allow it but the FOTA teams have agreed none of them should use it.
