That is ridiculous! You can't just kick out a team just because they've submitted their entry for 2010!! I bet it was Flavio's idea to kick them out!!

No i'd say Williams left willingly or somewhat willingly

Mm, they were probably feeling a little bit under pressure from the bigger teams anyway.

Well Williams has been paid until 2010 and i'm not sure if the manufactures have, don't believe they have.

Even so with the current economic situation Williams can not afford to pay back the money.

The reason Williams hasn't been threatened by ecclestone like Ferrari tho is because i expect Bernie was trying to use the fact they have been paid and can't pay it back to influence Williams and have a say within FOTA.

So Williams are "kicked" out of fota.

I might be reading way to much into this, but Williams seem to have taken it too well.

It'll have been John Howett's idea :P

Does that mean Nakajima can go too? :hehe:

I don't agree with Williams being kicked out of FOTA but at the same time I believe that Williams are better off being out of FOTA being a truly independent team again. I can see more teams being "suspended" from FOTA in the next few days now that Williams have made their stand. Force India, Brawn are highly likely to commit before the deadline, McLaren are also mooted to sign before the 29th; which will be the biggest blow for FOTA. A lot of people forget that McLaren are an independent team that just happens to have factory backing from Mercedes. If McLaren do indeed decide to sign up in addition to Brawn and Force India; I believe that FOTA will crumble and disappear from F1. FOTA obviously wasn't truly united as they stated; the big teams pressured the little independents like Williams to sign the "we are united" document. So their solution is to kick out teams that don't agree with the manufacturers stance; so they are united by default. I firmly believe that FOTA needs to go and the FIA/FOM need to take control back from the teams. What other sport allows teams and/or players to dictate rules and regulations? FOTA have never been able to agree amongst themselves let alone with the FIA!

Ah, the fun of forums; throwing insults when someone disagrees with you, nice one!!!

I said sport!!!

Having teams in charge of rules and regulations is a really bad idea because no team is going to agree to something that may disadvantage their team. There needs to be a body that is totally unbiased to govern the sport else the teams with the most weight (Read: Money); e.g. Ferrari, Toyota will get their own way the majority of the time. If teams disagree much in the same way Williams have done by signing up for 2010 F1 championship they simply get excluded. Why should the big spenders have all the power, e.g. Ferrari's Luca di Montezemolo and Toyota's John Howett, why not have one manufacturer and one independent team owner as joint chairman of the association. The six teams that have threatened to quit the sport are like petulant children demanding they get the choice of toy.

Snob!

In my opinion, the NFL is to ballgames what Formula One is to motorsports.

It really isn't but there's nothing wrong with the NFL. Easily my favourite US sport. Who do you like DD?

That was a joke; not a sport I enjoy; each to their own; no offence meant!

Maybe I should change my statement to "not many sports allow teams and/or players to dictate the rules and regulations".

Apologies for any offence!

Was a joke brutha, if it offended you have my apology. Was all in jest....though you are correct that I disagree with leaving the FIA in charge of anything more than enforcing rules written by someone else.

Fair enough; we can't all agree on everything; that'd make fora like this very boring places to frequent... It's hard to judge people's intent on fora like this sometimes, guess that I got off to a bad start on this forum, it's been some years since I participated in forums. :)
