They should Definitely close the diffuser loophole as it renders the ugly wing regulations useless in terms of improving overtaking. The fussy diffusers are bad news for following another car closely

I would agree with Jenson while the loophole does increase down force it doesn't increase turbulence so the cars can follow each other just the same, but I would say the increased down force does shorten breaking zones which makes the cars harder to overtake.

Stop being an bottom mate.

if you disagree post the reasons why, if you have idea about airflow and CFD.

for all you know Gilles might be an expert in that area

The diffusers will be putting out dirty air which means downforce is REDUCED when following.

Prove me wrong.

From what I've heard/seen the double deck diffusers don't really increase dirty air that much.

Jensonb's been a bad mood these past few days. I guess he's a little bit annoyed that Button's victories look a little less impressive now Barrichello is the team's bitch. As such, he is now taking everything he reads as an attack on Button and Brawn.

The fact of the matter is that the diffusers, although completely above board, are against the spirit of the new regulations, and the loophole must be closed for 2010.

It's an incorrect statement. As Frosty said, the diffuser is not a major source of turbulence, which is what makes following an overtaking more difficult.

And besides which, KERS makes overtaking difficult and we allow that.

I'm in a bad mood because you people are trying to rip F1 apart just because you're not winning any more.

How am I trying to rip Formula One apart because I'm not winning any more?

Hmm...Supporting the manufacturers' spitting the dummy and trying to leave, presumably to form a breakaway, over attempts to make F1 more competitive for smaller teams maybe?

No its correct, the diffusers create turblance and the dd's due to extra planes will create more votexes thus more dirty air.

And like Mclaren Fan says there are kinda against the spirt of the new regs.

Hardly it seams your annoyed because no ones agreeing with you becaue you want these regs so your team can stay ahead.

Great so Force India, BGP and Williams Sign for the budget cap all other teams do without so title battle between BGP and Williams with Force India taking 3rd and Lapping every other team.

It wouls suck a sport can only exist and be enjoable if the playing field is fair.

Two Tier F1 will NOT work.

Eh, no. I'm afraid not. First, I'm not actually involved in Formula One in any capacity higher than as a fan. Second, I don't support the creation of a breakaway series or various teams walking away from the sport. Ideally, I want to see the issues the teams have resolved, and I think the teams are holding the better cards. So, stop getting your underwear in a twist and stop being so presumptuous. You're making yourself look stupid.

lol, well Jensonb is fighting on many a front atm, fair play to him. The Rear aero package shouldn't be thought of simply as a diffuser. The design of the diffuser affects the way in which the entire rear aero package is designed. With the double-deckers, the airflow coming from the back of the car is more turbulent and exits the underneath of the car at an increased angle to the track due to the taller center sections, creating a larger low pressure zone behind the car.

and Jensonb, I'm more against KERS than I am against loosing a bollock

It is not correct. The extra turbulence generated is negligible. The detrimental effect on overtaking is less than that of KERS.

If you want proof, look at Rubens with a damaged wing overtaking a Williams, complete with its GeniusDiffuser, in Australia by drafting him.

I don't want these regs so Brawn can stay ahead. I want an equal, 1-tier, budget-capped F1 so we can have 13 teams all having a total punch up.

I am not going to say this again:

I do not and will not ever support a two-tier F1
What I say is that the best solution to the Two-tier system is to simply reject the uncapped tier out of hand and run all the teams with a budget cap.
