This is just more of Briatore trying to steal some of Brawns thunder i suspect! i dont think they will be worried though Flav, Fernando will be pitting and the Brawns will be going around another 10 laps before they need to pit!

Even fuel corrected i think it'll still have been a damn good lap by him considering the car - i'd expect a points finish from him tomorrow, although Alonso is probably the last person it'd count out to pull out a good result. I think he made more of a joke of Piquet than he ever has before in quali today too :hehe:

Most people forget that Piquet exists until he causes an accident! Piquet needs to go that was clear last season but now it's just a complete joke!

Alonso had a new car flown out to him he has a diffrent car to piquet

Ya was just about to say that, Piquet was in the old spec R29.

Alonso is not much lighter than the Red Bulls, he is in with a chance of glory tomorrow if things play out for him. I believe the Renault is around the pace of Toyota & Williams now, at least I hope it is.

In fact Renault was not able to make 2 diffusers for this GP, and in fact, it was mounted at night for Alonso and he only could test it for 3 laps before Q1

Yeah I agree with most everyone here that Piquet is kinda garbage. I've been thinking for a while now if Renault wanted some young brazillian driver, maybe they should have offered Bruno Senna the position. im sure he couldn't do much worst than Piquet :hehe: plus it would get him some seriously needed experience. (I also don't think he's a prick like Piquet)
I guess i just wanted to see if he's as good as Ayrton said he would be.

but back to the post, yeah Alonso did great to qualify up there, but if he can't pull away from the Brawn's , he'll have a bad day tomorrow.

I think some people are getting ahead of themselves if they think Alonso can pull off some sort of big points finish tomorrow.
Nothing to confirm the Renault will be reliable, especially with their gearbox body work issues in P3.
I think if Alonso gets points tomorrow that is progress in itself. Especially when you consider when the car has not been fully tested, especially over a long stint with heavy fuel.
But it truely was a superb lap by Alonso, the very fact he pulled it out with very little running time with the new parts says it all really. Class.

P.S Those Renault engines aren't shy on power now :hehe: Just the way it should be

Barrichello from Button and Vettel I think tomorrow.

Alonso will definitely score, could be quite bit depending on how some of the others hold up.

If it rains though, all bets are off. Brawn will probably stay at the front (Though their order is up in the air, both very good in the wet), but behind them it will be absolute pandemonium.

While I'm not going to be surprised if Alonso doesn't make the podium (judging by his fuel load) you still have to respect what he's been able to do with that piece of crap car called the R29. He is great at squeezing the maximum potential out of every car he drives, and that deserves some credit. Best of luck to him tomorrow, and hope he gets podium!

Indeed so, the man is a master. It is a pleasure to watch him at work.

And, seriously, someone give that man a car that's worthy of him!

He didn't like the last team who made him a decent car!

Any team that got me all wrapped up on scandal and espionage would not be high on my list of favorites either. Oh wait, but didn't dear Lewis get all bent out of shape just this past couple of weeks over the exact same thing? I believe he did...oh but then he is British...so all is well. Maybe if Alonso had called a press conference and thrown a public fit over it...that would have been a better thing than just leaving at the END of the season. Yeah..that would have been the ticket.
