Excellent article, very insightful and true.

I often wonder if this is still remnants of the Max vs Ron battle, I wonder if loads of teams have done this in the past and McLaren are getting creamed because Max is still p!ssed over Ron...

I think that's part of it, something which has been inadequately discussed thus far. Lying has gone on in Formula One in the past - the dogs in the street know this - and, comparatively speaking, the punishments will pale into insignificance compared to what McLaren are almost certainly going to get. This scandal was completely preventable, however. McLaren shot themselves in the foot spectacularly, giving Mosley (and Ecclestone) the ammunition they wanted.

I used to admire Ron standing up to Max and Bernie, he had a lot more clout when Williams were with him on most issues. I've noticed however Frank has come out with some very public displays of support for Max over the last few years, in return Williams has been getting some decent column inches and good press, which is what they need to survive.

Frank new when to call it a day. Good old Ron is fighting to the bitter end and I'm afraid when it comes to politics and manouvering, Max seems to have the upper hand.

Ron needs to call it a day like Frank did, realise this is a battle he can't win and just get on with racing. Yet I can fully understand Ron's "never say die" attitude, it's the nature of F1...

A very good article. I've been clinging onto wanting to believe taht what Hamilton did wasn't that bad, and that Ryan shouldnt have lead him..
But it's that second meeting, having 4 days to think about it, knowing that Trulli will get a penalty when Hamilton is fully aware of his guilt.

The press conference moved me, and I felt for Lewis, but if he didnt get caught, he wouldn't be feeling guilty. As he obviously didn't or he wouldnt have lied for a second time.
And the argument of following team orders, which I have previously gone along with, brings me back to the race when he blatantly went against team orders in qualies and Alonso stayed in teh pits long enough to stop LH getting a screamer of a lap in.

I like Lewis, but I dont know if I will ever be able to think of him the same, or if these thoughts on him will continue and I wont be able to support him at all.

Max is still p!ssing on Ron and makes me think RD could have outed Max in hooker-gate and he found out. Also, Bernie has been very quiet since the money fight with Dennis, Howett and Flavio. Why is Max really going after Ron Dennis and McLaren with such a vengeance.

Thinking about it....
After both of them lying the 1st time.. do we really believe that there werent any team meetings on the matter before the second meeting 4 days later?
That the team hadn't sat round a table and discussed what to do when they enter the 2nd meeting?
