Don't mean to start anything but I thought that Lewis saying it was a mistake for the team to continue developing last years car in the expense of this years car was a bit disrespectful. After all, it must have played a big role in him winning the WDC.

lewis is an awesome driver always has been always will i think ive followed him for a long time but i would have to say he owes mclaren to be honest ..i mean they fot him tro the ranks to f1 and his had 2 awesome years with the teams (race and results wise,,,,,,,never mind whats gone on with the fia and ferrari) i think this year will make him as in teach him..but he is a stright out fighter till the last lap ....woundt right him off just yet :)

I'm just wondering if Lewis Hamilton should change teams soon, due to the failure of his team to;
- Produce a proper racing car for a proper racing driver

He's been giving a championship-winning car two years out of three. It was nice of him to blow a title for McLaren in 2007, as well. So I'd say he's not done too badly for somebody just out of nappies.

to be fair the 2x WDC didn't do any better and he was unlucky with the gear box.

I'm just wondering if Lewis Hamilton should change teams soon, due to the failure of his team to;
- Produce a proper racing car for a proper racing driver
- Notify him on what he's doing on the track properly (08)
- Getting him into all sorts of trouble with the stewards, nearly EVERY race(but he also does get in trouble from his own
faults too)

Plus I don't feel that McLaren helps make Lewis that popular, with the stewards always having a negative attitude
towards them.

I don't know, I'm kind of torn between Hamilton or McLaren

I like Hamilton, I like McLaren, but are they really meant to be?

McLaren have given Lewis pretty much everything he has which is quite a lot! The last 2 years he has been given a Championship winning car in 07 he chucked the title away and he nearly did the same last years with some stupid school boy errors I really hoped this would be the year when he would mature as a driver I actually hope that him driving a slower car will humble him and make him a better driver. You never know McLaren may develop this car into a title contender by Spain (I wish)!

He didn't say it was a mistake. Rather he was probably stating something which was at least partly true. Comments of a similar nature have been heard from Maranello.

The gearbox story: hmm. It's not relevant anyway, for Hamilton blew his chances on two occasions: in China when dived into the pits too quickly and Brazil where we he completely lost his cool.

He's being political about it but that's how I read it.

"I think we focused so much on last year's car, we maybe left it a little bit late to focus on this year's car," AFP quotes Hamilton.

"It's difficult to say but people have obviously done a better job at the moment."

You missed this bit:

"But despite starting the season on the back foot, the defending World Champion has confidence in his team, saying they can return their fortunes around.
We've got a fantastic team and the guys are working flat out to recover the situation and to bring it back to the top," he said.
