that info would have come about to the stewards in the post race interviews, you can't blame mclaren for being cautious when it comes to the stewards! so because of the misunderstanding they should only have classified trulli 4th instead of a 25 second penalty.
Indeed not, however they can't play it safe and then, once they realise that actually Lewis was well-within his rights to have kept the place, go to the stewards to get Trulli penalised! If the race director had said to let Trulli past, then it would've been fair. But it was totally a team choice. They made the mistake of not knowing the regulations. I can't believe how anybody thinks it is fair that Jarno should lose is podium spot for McLaren messing up!
Because of the 'misunderstanding' they should have left the result to stand as it was at the chequered flag! Given the facts that you are a McLaren fan and were as outraged as I was when it came to Spa, I thought you'd be a little more reasonable than this. The whole thing was a mistake on McLaren's part and it's outrageous that they even lodged a complaint with the stewards after giving the position away.
