For me it's not so much the colour as the striping. I might be ale to put up with it if it were solid

Back in the '80's the runoff was actaully a solid french blue which was actually a very nice visuall que for us tv viewer's. I'm not keen on how the drivers perception was yet I found it to be very nice as a tv viewer.

back in the 80s it was really showing its age , luckily bernie modernised it into a great test track

Yeah, you're right. It's not exactly subtle either.

I think to be honest it looks so garish now because it's blue stripes. It's not even gravel either, it's a special type of super-abrasive asphalt that supposedly works better than a gravel trap.

Well it didn't stop Alex Wurz having a big crash in testing when he was McLaren tester.

How can they justify building a whole new race track in the current economic climate when for a portion of the cost they could make improvements to Magny Cours, Paul Ricard or Le Mans? It just seems silly what makes them think that a new track can provide a better race or make more money than any of the exsisting tracks?

I don't mind the Paul Ricard track - its been in a few adds too (panasonic ad with the toyotas)

I agree that they should spend money on upgrading existing circuits. In Sydney, the v8's are not using Eastern creek and instead building a crap street circuit for the local round in December. I say crap cause of the layout, ill look for a link but its literally a square. being built around the streets where the 2000 Olympics where held

I think so too. If the whole F1 theme right now is to cut costs..... i think thinking about a flamboyant Paris track or building a brand new track from scratch is the opposite. Why not just deal with whatever's available right now in Frnace, and then as the economic climate improves... think about the other options.

Why not just deal with whatever's available right now in Frnace, and then as the economic climate improves... think about the other options.

Building a new track could be viewed as a stimulus package for the economy - nothing wrong with that. Magny Cours has structural problems (location, etc.) that can't be fixed, so it would be a waste to sink in more dough.
